  1. I try very hard Roland not to be anti English despite the triumphalism I was expecting after an English victory this morning.I can only imagine that your anti Scottish post on this thread was a bit tongue in cheek.I certainly hope so
  2. No holiday for me this year my dear wife has used the holiday money on the installation of a hot tub in the garden much to the bewilderment of the doos and the dug wherein she reclines like f****** Cleopatra calling for frequent gins and tonics usually while I am trying to ascertain the latest fortunes of Kilmarnock FC.
  3. Yes quite correct I am talking about a childhood during world war 2 when anything gleaned of the and helped to supplement the rations.Unfortunately the landowners did not agree with this freeenterprise.
  4. I was first threatened by a landowner brandishing a loaded shotgun when I was ten years old, these experiences affect ones adult thinking I am afraid.

  16. In an article in today's Herald the journalist Mark Smith makes the following comment "i the 1950s thousands of working men in Scotland kept Pigeons and they were one of the country's most beloved birds. Now they are largely reviled for no good reason" If this comment is true and I am not sure about it at all would any fancier on here are to venture an opinion.
  17. Lockerbie,8 members sent 138 Pigeons to Carnforth with the Solway.
  18. A friend and experienced fancier sent nine Pigeons to Shap with the Solway at the weekend. He got eight of them home..Nothing remarkable in that you might think except that those nine birds had nverbefore been in a basket never trained and never raced, so how essential is Training?
  19. I am sure there is no truth in the allegation that the Hoddom Pigeons can see their lofts immediately on release from Shap.
  20. It is depressingly simple ,it's too f****** cauld for pigeon racing in Scotland in April and it will remain that way probably until early May so send pigeons at your own peril after keeping and feeding and cosseting them all winter.
  21. Supposed to get better by the weekend even for those of labouring under the misfortune of not being Ecclefechan natives.
  22. I am just back in the house looking for more coffee after a solid hour in the loft cleaning, scraping, feeding and watering my birds. The hills around here are covered in snow, the wind is bitter and my hands are about dropping off with the cold. The first race is next week not anything like spring here.
  23. Yes perhaps you are right Pete but this is precisely why we must be aware of injudicious comments about predators on sites such as this.Sorry I do not want to appear patronising.
