Del I don't know what you think but people go on about Ypres being a good race (point) what's the average on birds home on the day for this year and last taking in mind it's just a middle distance race to the majority to me it's far from being a good race point.
This was taken off pigeon chat 1 hour after liberation ==== Mon Jul 03, 2017 7:02 am Hindiver Hill, Seaford, East Sussex nr EASTBOURNE, Overcast, Brisk West South West Wind, visibility over the Channel poor, approx. 4 miles
Each to their own but I can't see what difference it makes I dare say if the doos were at Reims yesterday instead of Alencon the same doos would still be home/missing.
I maybe should of added that the Irish fancier that got my hen in paid £25 to the courier to get her taken back over to this country but didn't want the £25 back from me so i am going to send him over some youngsters next year as a thank you for doing what he did.
Got my hen that ended up in Ireland the day of lib. She's had some journey how's this for sportsmanship the Irish guy that got her in took her to the ferry port and got someone to take her over to Scotland where Rab (STB) organised someone to pick her up and Rab would pick her up after he finished work. From Rabs she went to Inverurie she got delivered to good old black WF who gave her to Jim Coutts who gave her to 1 of his work mates who lives in Fraserburgh he let her go when he got home from work 9pm sure enough here was think dark hen flying round the loft circling about 20 times like she was out for a fly and it never cost me 1p how's that for some good old fashioned sportsmanship thanks guys.
The hen I'm sending hasn't been out of the loft since Sunday due to weather today and me being away to Newcastle on a course from Sunday till last night. She has had plenty of time on the wing before this would you still send her its 645 mile to me her egg just hatched today.
Totally agree with you Tam the hen I'm sending hers eggs are due to hatch tonight/morning but I would rather her in the ducket for 3 days as apossed to the basket for 3 days welfare must come first good luck to all I dare say the end result will still be the same.
Only wy you will find oot if they are your best eens are by racing them nae looking at them in a cage by the way they look healthy enough good luck we them.
Here's our club result for Peterborough 361 mile to most. Well done to Robert Barclay on winning the race also must add that Roberts 1st bird was bred by Alex Geddess and my 1st bird was bred by Alex Geddess she has been my 1st bird 5 times this season out of 9 races so thanks Alex. Returns are nae to bad considering the kind of day it was so also well done to our Feds race controller for doing a good job this old bird season. 1st Robert Barclay 1266 2nd Robert Barclay 1266 3rd Robbie Higgins 1264 4th Robert Barclay 1216 5th Robert Barclay 1214 6rh Robert Barclay 1207
Well done Ronnie some fanciers up West think they can't compete against the boys to the East of them but your are proof that with the right doos and right management anything is possible. Cracking performance especially with the wind the way it was well done. I feel if you send to Ypres you will be the one to watch.
