Must agree that is 100% correct,just looking now at the relevant page in the Unikon manual,reasons for doing this are given as,birds ets ring might be missing,faulty ring which will not mark,ring might even be on the wrong bird etc.
At least they will be at the race point,so if there is any chance of a race they will be up,but as you say they wont want to be stuck in the baskets for days that wont do ybs any good at all.
Guess its like a lot of things in pigeon racing what may be good for one fancier is not so good for another,remember years ago I would train my youngsters twice a day from about 20 miles and do really well,this year I trained quite a lot up to the first race but now there racing some weeks they have a midweek toss other weeks they dont and I am having a really good season up to now with them.
