does anyone no what the wheat is coated in which oils do they use and why dont they go rancid, i think years ago it was a oatmeal or groat base but i could be wrong

does any one no where i can get a small bag of pin head oats from i have searched taylors and a couple of others but can only get it in 20 kg bags looking for about a quarter of that size, my local guy does not have any at the moment

i think rape seed is very good for the birds , i was buying rapeseed oil but now i just use the seeds , i dont use any oils on the corn now and the birds a moulting lovely

thats good it suprised me but it makes it easier that it does work out the same

i am feeding 20 per cent layers pellets now when racing 20 pecent to tuesday then just mix without pellets

would the type of mix not change the weight of what a egg cup holds, barley compared to say beans

i feed in a tray they tend to eat all the mixture this way, but i give treats in the box

looks ok to me mine are on 1 part each of barley,wheat, pellets and beans with rape seed ,linseed and hormoform added to the mix each day are you adding oil seeds to the mix chriss

not cheap now, in 2003 they were £4.50 a bad at titmus , may have been just under £9 now you mention it had it in me head as £8

i was there about 3 weeks ago, they had them at £8 which is not cheap but in essex the vesel aga tics were £14 a bag check them for wevils some of the beans drop through the grid where they stack them on the back wall at titmus the one i got were fine but a couple of years ago they were full of holes

agree wiley , i dont think i have mastered feeding but by feeding as much as they want with barley it has helped me as a guide and the a little at night has improved mine when i fed more at night they did not fly as well next morning

i have 30-50 per cent barley in my mix feed they have all they want in the morning after flight for 15 mins at night time i feed quarter of oz , on thursday i feed as much as they want at night,

i wouldnt worry about stock for now i would buy late ones get them flying out ,train to 10 miles over the winter breed 2 rounds then race them the following year, with the ybs you breed in 2010 and the original late breds you should have plenty of there blood in the loft time you breed off them and what will yearling in 2011 i think to many stock birds are kept by most fanciers

chris gorden moults his birds with a high percentage of barley barley and new wheat are very good for the birds, low prices paid for these 2 are some of thr reasons fanciers look down on them

i use 1 part barley, 1 part wheat ,1 part chicken pellets, 1 part beans as i put it in me drum i add the ad herb to it as this last 5 months on the corn and works out very cheap as you hardly use any this works out £24 so £6 a bag,, to the above i add rape one day, linseed another and hormoform another , my birds are moulting better than when i used to buy the best moulting mix's
