  1. Depends on your budget and how many your aiming for. I started with an 8ft x 8ft hut with two sections. Would always advise on having two sections as always best to split cocks from hens over late Autumn and early winter
  2. We are 317 in Midlothian... Take it your well up from Ayr? Never realised i'd give 8 miles to Ayr
  3. Hope so to blaz mate... Might end up with a cock trapping to your loft too lol.... Cock might follow her up if they've paired
  4. Had me worried there mate. Thought it was there first race for this year. Well all the best and I hope you do well... What distance do you fly?
  5. Yeah am with Midlothian not SNFC so we never had any say... I was on here last Wed saying it would be a monday race. Just hope for good returns. Most Lanarkshire boys go with SNFC??
  6. Cheers I thought that. Just with the high birdage. Lanarkshire men.... had to be
  7. First race this year you mean???
  8. I think you should try get youngsters to start off. Then build team from there, Having stock(prisoners) is not ideal and def not to a new start
  9. Think east still mate.... Is section E in east ragion??
  10. Nope.... East.. Or section B C
  11. Why even bother with the trouble of racing...Bring them back in transporter and let bigda do the first 100 in result from his wisdom knowledge ;D

    Crows

Never had crows attack my birds. I like crows around my loft area actually cause they always chase the BOP
  14. Yeah chrissyboy... Was only using 6am as an example of times mate
  15. i think we are b section blaz.... not certain tho. A is south and G is north tho
  16. Weather ok for 2moro www.xcweather.co.uk This has been spot on for me all racing season. I think 8 hours is a good pigeon and more realistic around 8 n a half to 9 hours. I fly 317 miles to newbury. not in the SNFC tho. Only a fed race for us. 8 hours is around 40mph but cant see them do that with the E/NE turning East wind they will face. So 6am lib and Hope to be timed in for 2pm or there about
  17. I bought an air flow cap for in loft and a heavy face mask for when I at shows in winter months. Feel the wee cheap masks from hardware stores were not good enough so got a heavy duty mask from my uncle who worked on building sites. Does the perfect job
  18. I always wear a mask. Also wear a mask at all the shows. I suffer bad with the pigeon lung but it wont stop me keeping my birds. I only found out Blackpool 08 that I had it. Got tested down there as I always felt ill coming home from shows. Horrible. Its flu like symtoms I used to get. Home from show and straight to bed. So mask is very important for me
  19. Yeah birds will be up 2moro.... North and a lot more east in wind. Think it will be tricky.. I hope to see the 4 we have away again lol
  20. Thats Midlothian Getting brighter now. Rain has moved west
  21. Its getting worse every year that passes mate.... Wont be able to race in 10 years with the hawk attacks we'd receive. Would be just feeding them all on route :( :'(
  22. I have a few B rung birds but my 08's are in the 50's... So way off sorry
  23. I watched a programme on pigeons and they used the GPS on a bird. He was released 5-6 times from same point and first time he went a very wide and round route but each time he got more direct and more direct till he was doing almost a sraight line. I believe birds use land marks to find there way home faster but also Magnetic feild is where the homing ability comes from... So at first its the magnetic field they use to come home but as they get more experienced with route they use the landmarks and get home faster. Yeah wind plays big part too
  24. Thanks Jimmy.... Bit heavier here in Rosewell tho... But its only for a few mins at a time and goes back to drizzle
  25. Fed that let go that I know were wales... The rain is across cental UK. birds in to nothern England and Scotland would never have got through mate. So feds that are liberating are not coming as far north so wont meet the rain
