  1. Have you tried Mr & mrs Arnold & son. They are on here and it's where I get my corn. Top bloke Top pigeons.
  2. I have some birds to come down from Teeside to Rugby. Any advise welcome thanks.
  3. That's what they say mate but it's been bloody cold this year and there are some nasty viuses about. Did a course in food hygiene, nothing can survive without water.

    race

I put my late bred hens in with the youngbirds every race to get them ready for old bird national no problem. Only fly as trainers and cocks don't go.
  5. Bacteria thrive in damp conditions drying the atmosphere in the pen can only be a good thing.
  6. Agree with no 7 entirely. Number 8 you can learn more about the health of your birds by keeping an eye on the droppings rather than scraping constantly.
  7. If that was this year you had a long wait like me, and my heart was heavy thinking I'd lost 'em. I was thrilled to get one after 18 days. With about 5 a day coming in for the first 10 days. I was absolutely sick..Worth the wait in the end. Only 751 mile to me. ;D
  8. Sooner you kept 'em, but yes I would be interested in whites. Best o' luck mate.
  9. Tiz dutch bred but could be registerd with RPRA in UK
  10. Good ventilation is a must, but what's so special about geraldy type? Baskets are every bit as good.
  11. The best thing with alloy is they have perspex drop flaps. Basket or crate don't matter, let the day light shine in is the most important thing for me. Shut your birds in the dark boot of your car and take 'em training, then try it with the seats down and a good clear view out the window.
  12. Open alternate boxes on alternate days
  13. First bird from Tarbes 634 mile

Not at all. What I mean is MNFC sank deep in to debt to buy new transporter with alloy crates with too little fore thought as did NFC. They've also gone for loads of middle distance races to get the money in. My birds have been north in wooden crates, south in alloy and also in baskets. Wicker baskets are out of fashion but my birds flew Palamos 751 mile and my young birds went to Lamballe 280 mile, last year. I've been happy with all sorts. Tiz money and MNFC that's the problem. I only have one over 1 year old so not going Barclona.
  15. Should be but why would you ?

    annoyin

The site and sport is mostly male orientated so don't take offence. These horsmans seem to be in demand though.

Too much money for me. I am in BBC and BICC, and BBC aint going Palamos so I will only send to Lamballe young bird. Old fashioned wicker baskets served me well last year.
  18. I wish that would happen but pigs might fly.
  19. Yes I agree with that but like I said it's our choice. There is always some bloody bird that decides to nest right by the door just where you want to step.

Mate I am no longer a member of MNFC but as I am just 10 mile north of you I should be, but for me it aint even a good program with just 1 race over 500 mile and if they go to Saintes that's only 480. I think they went wrong with the bird flu, and have had to cater for the sprint / middle distance just to pay for the new transport. Doesn't seem to be all inclusive any more.
  21. Don't believe that. Almost every loft you go to will have one pair trying to nest on the floor. We all like 'em off the ground but that is us.
  22. Mate tiz a good post. I have no particular strains here, and never worry about the pedigree once the bird is here. All I do with them is put 'em in a draw and forget 'em. All young are rung and have there details written down, but then I never look to see what they are bred from till seasons end. Then it is time to check what you have left and any that have no young left are out.

    To make money?

Mate I don't normally have a stock loft so have no prisoners. We moved here last year and all the stock I bought will be moved on. I will not sell any crap though. People some times do part with good birds, I will cos I don't have the room to keep 'em.
  25. I think if your looking at a pigeon 22nd unc it don't matter a lot what blood lines he has.
