Start To The 2013 Results Etc
blaz replied to THE FIFER's topic in Fife Federation Notice and Club Results
all the best to all for the 2013 season. -
barry the program that was passed was ridsdale x 3 then thirsk .same start as pentland fed had last year.what has been changed is it is now 3 x otterburn then thirsk. with a jump off 70 mile otterburn to thirsk.ridsdale not suitable for lib otterburn a lot better my own opion otterburn is better but their should be 2 x otterburns then a race from 90 mile ish then thirsk.also with the 70 mile jump it won,t be down to peter if you lose birds .as a lot will use him as a scape goat if losing birds with the jump.

would it be possible to read an ETS clock with the electricity that our wee club house runs on comes from a small generator.it runs a strip light and a small club computer.or would it need to be read of mains electricity.
-
it depends on how far race was if 60 miles to 200 then for me just a good balanced mix with a bit extra protein so as to replace what birds have lost racing .i up the protein if it has been a hard stiff race.200 to 400 i use a high fats and protein mix to help repair muscles and put back what weight birds have lost racing. can,t comment on race 500 plus as no experience yet and fanciers with more knowledge will know best. always only water in drinker

some pairing up some sitting and some raising yb,s,birds will be left to carry on what they want to do up to and trough racing. it keeps them happy and content and a lot less stress. it has worked well in the past with good results.
-
watch my best yb team from last year turn in to my best yearling team this year.
-
their got to be truth in that as my 1st loft in to form is steel and fiber glass roof so it is a warmer loft and birds in it show form 1st

breeder buyer sale birds where sold by auction as their was a starting bid and more bids to follow that to me is an auction. it was for a very good cause to help the fire fund .as for bidding on your own birds long may it last as i think it would put fanciers off if told you can,t bid on your own birds. well done ian on running it.
-
an extra £1 might have got you the lot it is an auction.Stevie i take my hat of to you Barry pushed you in the bidding and at the end your generosity takes over again and Barry gets 2 no doubt well bred yb,s for free.i had to pause before i pressed the 2 as i know what like you are. hope you don,t get to race yb,s next year never mind this year if you catch ma drift.

WELL SAID DANNY their are to many fanciers with short term memories to quick to forget the hard work others put in to the sport.to vote against a fancier getting in a club.the member or members should have to put a valid reason forward and put their name to it.
-
another good fancier has died r.i.p victor lough from dunbar .he was well known in Scotland for his distance blood rhythm
-
R.I.P wattie you will be missed

both birds arrive home to 2 different lofts both fly same distance both go in to their lofts at same time 1 fancier has ets the other any manual system you want to mention. the winner will be the bird going in to the loft with ets. so ets helping bird win race.ets has an unfair advantage over manual clocks.only my opinion but i know it is right
-
beg to differ i use an stb manual clock and looking at some results if i had same clocking system as some fanciers above me the result changes in my favor
-
ets v,s standard stb clock ets wins hands down. with some fanciers racing ets and some with manual clocks.when it is a close race then the fancier with ets wins.so making for a false result in club fed and national flying.(as it was the ets that made bird win position fact) if races in past where on a level playing field say all with ets or manual clocks.the club fed and national results would be altered fact
-
yes both will produce milk i have had a 2 like this .

i like this story a lot as it also reminds me of what to look for in a bird the corkyness ect and the getting the better of well knowen fanciers at nats now and again. don,t like 1967s story that much as now when he beats me i will be thinking bet you 10 bob thats down of a bird he paid 50p for. best of luck with them stevie

started racing in 1997 stopped in 2005 gave all birds away and started keeping horsemen pouters.in 2008 a good bird of mine came back a red ch red fox jancen cock i thought thats it i am not phoning again for another bird to be picked up.a few days later his hen came home and soon claimed their old box back.it was not long till eggs laid and yb,s hatched.then i got 1 of my top pairs coming home .i thought what a waste yb,s with no rings so i phoned a mate gav in my old club got a few old rings of him. with rings on them and looking good i then thought if i join my old club i could race the xmus race and get back in to racing 2009 .so thats what i did sent to xmus race 1 of the late breed yb,s that i rung was 6th .with me back in club i was on the look out to buy birds .a member in the club the late george logan had cancer and was selling most of his birds.so i got a good few from george and after his sad death i got the rest of them.so i started to brake them in at the start of 2009 .then racing started did not hope for much i new i had good birds and was doing my best but with broken birds .then again who was i to dought the birds. was not long till i got 1st club win with a late breed bred of the pair that cam back together. then birds just kept coming week in week out getting better all the time.at the end of my 1st old bird season back the birds won more of fed main trophy,s than any other fancier or club then a 9th open plus others s.n.f.c eastbourne nat 1st time at nationals with a broken hen then topped year of with a 1st and 2nd at the xmus open race again the winner was a broken hen from the late george logan who even tho dead i can,t thank enough. sfor birds to pick up 14 club fed and open trophy,s in 1st year back racing was unreal.when i wright it down it seems more unreal but thanks to the late george logan and his birds i came back in to racing with a bang.my best race so far has to be 1st time i sent birds to ypres the longest race for me to get in top 20 and top fed with a bird i bred myself from a sire from .strapper/paul holly x with a hen yet again from george logan.george logan is no longer with us but birds bred down from his still give a lot of fanciers a run for their money.
