  1. The change needs to start and happen from the top, we have had all these problems with declining membership, bird lossage, bops, we have been at meetings wrote letters to the weeklies but still the problems exist. What are we paying are fees for, what has the RPRA and other ruling bodies doing about it. I think its about time we heard something coming from these people and their opinions in all these issues I would like to hear their thoughts for a change after all its in their interest as well as ours. Sadly our sport is slowly dying :(
  2. That is a beauty Brian and in cracking condition, you certainly look after them well, the colouring of the hen is class :emoticon-0137-clapping: do you know what age she is ??
  3. We normally pay 50p per bird both OBs and YBs but the price rises to cover the cost of the crates (£9.00) when sending to channel races as there is usally a significant drop in birdage when the channel points come about.
  4. Very good reading Billy, thankyou :emoticon-0137-clapping:
  5. Well done to all award winners :emoticon-0137-clapping:
  6. We fly with the Nipa here in N. Ireland which is affilliated to the RPRA. Our annual club fees to include RPRA & NIPA is £60 per member. In our club we don't race for any money prizes throughout the season, just diploma's and awards at the presentation night held at the end of the year.

  8. Morning all basics Members, hope you all have a good day
  9. Damp & wet start to the day here in Derry
  10. Harry heres a friend for Iggy hope it cheers him up :emoticon-0140-rofl:
  11. He looks a real happy chap Harry :D
  12. Thanks for the info dublin boy, the Barkers must be still doing alright for your mate when their still in his loft at 3 years old. A few fanciers up here in Derry had good results in days gone by into the N/west, not too many about these days. Where did your Kirkpatrick pigeons originate from ??, I still fly them in my race team and they can hold their own against the best when it comes to the channel races.
  13. Get Alex to build you one Dougie I'm sure it'll not cost to much
  14. Sorry to hear this John, you must be gutted losing a bird that has flown well for you to one of those b**tards they really are everywhere you look now. Hopefully it will return and gratefully accept its welcome.
  15. Great link Lindsay, just goes to show there is still a lot of good people in this mad world of ours. Enjoyed that, can't wait to show my young daughter when she comes in from school. :)
  16. Have to agree with you Rab about Jocks great hen, I have a full sister to her in my loft that was gifted to me by Pete Patrick who also bred Mary. I can only hope that I get something good off her in the years ahead.I also bought the latebred Yb donated by Jock at this years SNFC sale.
  17. I've been a member of my present club for 15 years and 8 of those I was the secretary until I stood down from the post 2011.
  18. Agree with you on that point bigda as birds will fly in a blind panic when a bop attacks, I was meaning in their normal flying around the loft they get used to their surroundings and obstacles
  19. Happy Birthday Tom, hope you have a good one :emoticon-0123-party:
  20. Good morning Basics members, hope you all have a good day
  21. Looks like its spread all over, dry mild start to the day here in Derry :)
  22. Nice photos of your pigeons dublin boy you have them in cracking condition, just like to know apart from the like for the large wattles do you breed them for their colours and showing and do you compete with them in any races.
  23. Have to agree with you Walter, all it takes is one bop strike and those birds that survive it will learn from it and recognise possible areas of further strikes whenever homing from a race and tend to avoid the area and risk. As regards to wires near a loft you'll usally have a few casualties each year mostly with that years Ybs but over time the older birds are well used to their loft areas and avoid the known obstacles.
  24. I think that most of the time its just down to the entrant being more interested than entering their bird/s than they are to take the time and bother to fill out a few details on a pedigree form.
