Losses have been widespread and have affected most lofts this year and previous, after 2 races on the channel this season the birdage of the NIPA was reduced by 75%. Again yesterday racing from Penzance only one bird made the result into Derry city and that was to a young lad who has only been racing the past few years leaving the seasoned channel & distance men with empty perchs and good birds lost again when they should be home. As Paul says we all need to get our heads together and look at these problems with the losses and possible causes as the sport will be dead before too long. The cost of breeding, training and luckily if they make it to the racing pannier is not cheap but with the losses incurred season after season if it was a business it would have been shut down a long time ago :(
