I am 15 mile south of Newbury near Andover, very bright but -1 at 6 o, clock. Some fog as it starts to warm up slightly. No wind but all the makings of a very fine day down this way. Should give your birds a good start, all the best.

Same as that, I swear by it. You won,t burn the loft down if your carefull and keep moving. Also good for food troughs etc.

Unbelievable...... My heart goes out to these fanciers.. Thier whole lives ruined. What are these people doing? Obviously have connections with pigeons... Just as bad... Who is buying the birds. Cut thier balls off and feed them to the ferrets.... Total scum.

Hollowed out loaf of bread. Put egg in, pack with soft bread taken from middle, next egg and repeat etc. Eggs have travelled this way from Ireland to here for years with v.good hatch results.

Creocote (creosote substitute)
allenyeates replied to Cooleflyer's topic in Lofts, Fixtures & Fittings
Allways do the outside of loft every year. Can still get the original stuff at farm supply shops. My son also does all his ferret hutches in it once a year. I personally belive that the fumes are good for the birds respiritory system. One thing I would mention is if you put it on too heavy it will soak through small gaps and thinner (shiplap edges etc) pieces of wood and can get on the birds feathers. 2 thinner coats are better than one if the wood hasn,t been treated in a long while. You can also mix old engine oil (50/50) with creosote for a darker colour and it soaks deeper into the wood, I use it on my fences, new fence posts or bearers under sheds etc. Takes a bit longer to dry though. All the best. -
Laguna whippet ..... you can,t fail with one of these. Great on rats too. Google Mikes Whippets and have a look.

What do members consider to be the best pigeon dip available for lasting results on all lice etc? Personally I used to dilute Duramitex and put it in plant sprayer. 2 sprays under each wing kept them lice free all season. Have not tried new Duramitex but am looking for a good alternative in dip form, any help appreciated. Thanks

More about than you realise. Advertised under different names. Fantastic dogs with a perfect temperement. It,s only the arseholes that exploit them that gives them a bad reputation. Lost one at Easter to cancer (10 years old) best dog I ever had. Would sit next to me on patio chair and scan the sky for pigeons on race day, when a bird come he would hop off his seat and wait by back door till I clocked then come down to the loft and peer through the bars. Never had any trouble from cats, rats or 2 legged vermin when BIG TONY was around. Please do not belive all what you hear or read about bull breeds. They are what you make them. NO dog is born bad.

Just lost one at 10 year old to cancer. Fantastic family dog and cat keeper outer. Not known as the "nanny dog" for nothing. But as with ALL dogs its all in the upbrining.

I have barless mealy hen (03) bought from Louella. King of the Faroes strain. Bred 2 barless mealy cocks off her. The 08 bird I gave to a young lad who came to pick a stray up that I had of his. The 09 bird is away tonight at Yelverton for its second race. -

Well done Micko, and keep using the Gaelic. My parents were fluent and I wish I had learnt it. In my posts, letters and everyday speech I use Romany, no one has ever complained but many have asked to learn bits and pieces. Native languages of these Islands are getting rarer, so long may they continue, even if it is only by the few.
