Someone advertises these in B.H.W. he lives in Wales I think... Name is Tom Sherwood possibly. The add allways starts "due to persistant perigrine attacks". Also louella Ebony Ardens and Faroes British Distance familys carry Krauth bloodlines.

We all know about elderberries etc. In fact all parts of the elder (sambcus nigra... spelling?) is very usefull. It is also known as the medicine tree. But what about wild woodpigeons, this time of year they devour huge quantities of ivy berries. What do they get out of them? Does anybody have any info on them? I have not been brave(or foolish) enough to give them to my birds, but the woodie has got to be one of the toughest. Is it in the ivy berries?????

A good Cross with Kirkpatricks
allenyeates replied to Speckled Jim's topic in Breeding, Strains & Families
Busschearts cross well with kirkpatricks, the ones I crossed all turned out to be hard pigeons. One thing I did notice was if you dropped them as Y.B.s you never saw them again. After that the had hearts like lions. Still have some that are mostly red grizzle. -
feed them in same area and then use a clapnet.

Top looking birds mate. No.1 is my favorite -
No good at all. Both nieghbors have them(keen gardeners) and are allways chasing cats away and moaning about replacing the batteries. I,m the only person up this end of the village with pigeons and never get cats in my garden. Big Tony (my bull terrier) sees to that.

Straw without a doubt for me. If hay gets damp from droppings of Y.B.s or adults after a bath it lets off bad smells and holds dampness alot longer than straw. Bird sand in bottom of bowl first and I get hold of a couple of fags and crumble the tobbacco into the sand as I belive this keeps mites etc away. (usefull if you can,t get hold of tobbacco stalks)

Personnally I belive we have made ourselves our own worst enimies for treating on a regular and more than likely unnescerilly basis. I belive you should not treat livestock if nothing is wrong. You don,t take a child to the doctor incase they get a cough do you? Same as animals/birds prevention is better than cure.... but if you suspect something is not right then get it checked by a competant vet.(droppings by post even!) It will save you money and more importantly heartache and birds in the long run........ Remember nature is always right and you go against her at your peril. Natural products if possible for me but I,m not afraid to use a vet or antibiotic if advised by a proffesional! I realise this is the modern world and things have moved on but think back to harder times and fanciers of old and some of thier ways(rusty nails in drinker etc). Harder times / harder pigeons,ANIMALS etc.... Where they all wrong? I think not!!! Just a few thoughts of a carrot cruncher.. all comments welcome!

Collect seaweed from any clean beach (blue flag). Although I go in winter as there is less polutants in the water then. I get the kelp etc. and dry it on the washing line on a breezy day. When properly dry and crumbled it will last ages. (Used for centuries by coastal farmers or livestock breeders including greyhounds etc.).

What area are you mate? Will keep an eye out.. Good luck in getting them back

I personally use alot of watercress and dried seaweed (mixed with grit) and I swear by this. Seaweed is good for all animals/birds. Very complex and 100 % natural

It is a fact that all animals/birds/fish life cycles are ruled by the luner or tidal activity. Olden day farmers always planted or bred stock on a new or rising moon. From my own personnel experiances I can assure anyone that rats/rabbits etc. can be trapped a lot further from thier earths on a new moon up to full. When the moon is on the waste it is a different story. I always pair pigeons/dogs/ferrets on a new moon........ Old supperstion or nature???? Any comments welcome...

Are pigeon fanciers mad?....... Of course .. But then thats what makes us different to all the others. Also I think our hobby/sport is one of the few that has no barriers or predudices and long may it continue..

Nice birds mate. Especially like pair 2.

B.H.W. without a doubt. Only paper I get now.

Went to buy some young ferrets about 20 years ago. The man selling them kept a Bengal Eagle owl on a long rope in his garden. When I asked him about it he said it was the best method he had come across to keep cats and sparrowhawks away from his aviaries(he kept a large amount of canaries)

Sorry to hear of your plight Stokey old mate. It,s a pity you have such idiots in your club. Let them resign it,s not your problem just their small minded inadequencies. My own club is great and nobody moans or groans who uses what. I personally use a T3 but afew of the top flyers got in ETS. Every member just saw it for what it is......... Progress. Good luck and worry about yours and your own and not the wingers.... It is ment to be a sport after all

Try coopex mini smoke generator they are fantastic. You may need to get them off a friendly pestcontroller and remove pigeons first but they kill all bugs/fleas/mites etc

Agree T3 . Top quality
