  1. Getting all home within 8 mins (sent 8) of my first one out of a UNC inland national with 26,000 birds in the race. Didnt win a thing, but getting them like that was a better thrill. Waiting for birds from 60 miles, knocking 2 hours I'd more or less given up, one came clocked her, phoned the lads in the club (I have a mile of overfly - they fly together on alotments) to say that I'd drop my clock off later as was no good. They said 'got to go the first one has just hit the gardens'. Just as I put the phone down (thinking that he was winding me up) another one flew round and in. 1st and 2nd club, 5th and 13th fed - my first win, was on cloud nine :)
  2. A rat got into the loft and decided to take some eggs, one hen wasnt having any and ended up having her eye taken out by the rat. She was also brain damaged by it and when I found her the next morning she was in a sorry state. Sorry I didnt get there sooner :(
  3. Here here. Very saddening to hear of yet another natural disaster in such short time
  4. Havent heard much about it for a while being away from home, and also allot of work being done on the house so I think priorities have gone elsewhere for now, we'll see if it happens :-/
  5. Very interesting Ian, thanks

I've used a similar probiotic drink thingy from the supermarket, didnt do any harm, won a few cards while using it. Got the tip off a top prize winner in my fed, he used it every week.
  7. Sounds like a ruptured airsac to me. If you've got a vaccination needle + syringe take as much of the air out as possible. It can reinflate so its a good idea to keep her in a nestbox once the air is out for a couple of days should give it time to heal up. I had a young cock with the same a couple of years ago, that sorted him out.
  8. Whenever they trap to the loft after exercise Found that exercising them once a day (and feeding them this once) they fly much better, fits in well with trying to get the old uns out too
  9. Happy Birthday Frank, hope you have a good one
  10. Cheers, I was trying through Firefox - doesnt work. IE - works a treat Good Luck Linda
  11. Waiting 18 days + 10 to lay is rubbish, but I love it once their hatched. Its swings and roundabouts Were the all settled to their boxes when this happened? If I'm locking them in : pairing up I let 1 pair out day, one night (changeover when I feed in a morning, and on a night) until they all get used to their boxes, then 2 pairs out together, etc.. But then again I have small sections, could see a problem 20 boxes - all birds out once in 10 days!
  12. What program do you run for pigeon radio? Wouldnt work through my windows media player :-/
  13. I've tried getting pigeon radio, with no luck. If anyone can get it, could you let us know how you did Would like to hear tomorrows show

From what I've seen Belgium hasnt been discussed,, bearing in mind that I'm not on the patch at the moment maybe carl, sean or one of the other members could check the grape vine I'd have thought it must have done by now, its not like we havent raced there before (foot and mouth)
  15. ;D ;D I'm a fair weather doo too ;D ;D Rather be in the house than down the road with the pigeons when the weather is too cold or a cold east wind is blowing :)
  16. You may be right, but with that positive attitude to the sport its no wonder "racing pigeons is in a downward spiral in this country"!! In the US I’m sure they have their fair share of problems within the sport (whole regions wanting to ban keeping pigeons altogether, etc) but they have had an increase in membership of around 10% with the last annual stats I saw. They for sure dont have a defeatist attitude towards the future of the sport! Get involved in something to make a difference, or support those who are; we can talk about the negatives in the sport all day (as with any sport) but what we need is some constructive comments in order to right what is wrong, and some support towards those who are trying to make the difference. Stop the rot!!

Inland basket charges have gone up 75p I think for next year anyway, the amount of baskets that go inland, thats a big hike in turnover!

France is a no no. Beligum have given racing the green light at the moment so we could get a few from there if the situation with AI doesnt change too much. If we get no racing from the channel the UNC plan to go to Eastbourne the weekends of each planned channel race, and charge channel birdage still. Bourges prices for Eastbourne!! - I wont be sending!!
  22. Nice drop, is it once round the tree and in :)
  23. Well done :)
  24. If you can rig up a pen indoors (somewhere heated) and pop the injured bird in there for a few days, the heat does wonders in healing the bird up more quickly
