Best thing is to get a phone that comes with a data cable,, I wont be making the same mistake..lol
-
I think it was £100 last year; there are no details of a 2006 race on their site yet though.
-
When you come to think of it; how do they know what to do when rearing thier first brood? equally amazing!
-
They come with software to transfer your photos from camera to computer via a cable on a USB port. Sometimes you get one that comes with a memory card, and a memory card reader that plugs into your USB, this is usually for extra storage on the camera, however I find the built in memory sufficient.

Happy Thanksgiving

Thats the one, 4.0 mega pixels - 4 million pixels
-
I'm not totally sure, I think its 0.9 million, or something around there. Only thing is, make sure you get a right good data cable, to connect to your computer.

Yes it was a good race; bit further to fly that I thought, had me thinking I had a really late one, twas ok, just a late one :) http://www.pigeonbasics.com/competitions/race/2005/race.php?mode=result&id=2005-08-27%2010:45:00

I got a nice one a couple of years ago, nothing flash, but it still takes a good photo. 2 million pixels is enough for my use. If your thinking of changing your mobile phone, try and get one with a good camera built in; I'm thinking of getting one of the new sony phones, 2 million pixel camera built in (no need for a seperate camera then ), about £80 I think at the moment.

I was told they are universal electronic chips, but they are made and patented by one company. They weigh less than the a conventional band + electronic ring, but slightly more than just the conventional band. Hungary are one of the countries introducing them in 2007, cant remember the others.
-
While at the Belgian show this weekend I spotted a new generation id ring (GB, SU, NL, equivalent); this ring has the electronic chip within the ring, which means no need for two rings anymore. See photo I was told the rings will go on sale, by unions whome approve them, starting in 2007.

I heard today that a mobile phone mast is most probably going to be erected in the near vicinity of my loft. What do you think? Do you think it will effect the pigeons? I've looked at the risks (for humans) around these masts, and officially there is no evidence of any health risks, just some conspiracy theories [probably ], and some small studies showing some correlations linking it to various things. Found out tonight that: Mobile phone radiation is just another part of the electro-magnectic specrum though, on the scale it is between radio waves (just normal car radio, and tv radio) and microwaves. (Higher up the spectrum are - in order; radar, infra-red, visible light [everything we see], ultra-violate (the sun), x-ray, and gamma. The higher up the spectrum ones can cause damage, nuclear power and the radiation waste problem is from the gamma type.) Seeing that, I cant imagine the phone signals ever creating a problem for the pigeons,,, unless the pigeons homing instinct is tuned in on that frequency ;D ;D

Its not really that posh or scientific bruno its just white polycarb stuff, alot of lofts have the clear stuff, just happened that mine came with white. The light on the boxes (which had been removed from the loft while repairing it - you see the 2nd photo, the end of the loft; the floor had stayed put, while the walls had twisted and buckled) I think is just the sun, (trying to remember); I took the photos on my phone, which is probably why their not fantastic.

Yes in a field on the farm, exposed to the elements, but one hell of a drop
-
Trying to think now,, erm, it was one of the Wizard mixes,, cant remember who makes it off the top of my head tonight.

I think its a requirement to be vacinated with 2.5ml of vaccine jimmy. Taking it on a slightly different route, if you vaccinate you ybs fairly late, then they are vaccinated for the next old bird season, right? (Still within the year)
-
There were peanuts in a racing mix I tried this year, not many mind. Try a couple in your trapping seed; mine never trapped so well
-
Yes, back to being loft shaped now Forgot to say, you can see the UNC garage from my loft, about a mile or so away.
-
Same storm got my loft, luckily no pigeons in it at the time.

Blackpool is still on

In reality does the new start have to go it alone in purchasing each of the mentioned items? In the first place I counldnt imagine a kid coming home and saying to his parents that he wants to start up with pigeons. He most probably will have caught the bug from being at someones loft; and yes while he may want to start up, this outlay will not be a lump amount as you suggest. Start with a wee shed, and build your way up. What is the need to buy a brand new clock? How many clocks go spare sat in club clock cupboards each week, even during racing... hundreds. Young stock, come on how many fanciers wouldnt breed a new start a team of babies between them?

At this stage I'd guess that its just for fun,, keeping us out of trouble (and the cold) with the dark nights :)

Bang on... we cannot even think of thinking its their fault that they arn't interested, its a huge generalisation to put upon a generation that they all are not bothered. Maybe if 'we' were bothered about the future of the pigeon sport, we would see many more new faces joining our ranks.
