More than likely to injured or killed by bop as the hen sparrowhawk is ruthless in the month of April. Then settles down on her eggs given us peace to exercise or birds in the early part of may ......if you haven't got the bhw pm and I will post his article .

In last week's bhw 27/4/18 page 18 mr john Halstead a very knowledgeable fancier hit the nail on the head concerning early races ..and weather conditions and bop .well said john .

Andy I'm taking about the kingdom fed ...like many of fancier I can't let them out until beginning of may when it's safe to do so as I have problems with sparrowhawk and goshawk.so if I try to get them race fit for April .they just get hammered. And I'm sure it's the nationals that decide when we start or programme so we can piggy back with English Fed's .but the weather is better down there at this time of year anyway thank You for your opinion good luck for the season

Andy from a personal point of view my first race is the last weekend in April .so I tried to get them race fit in the 1st of April but Every time I let them out they got chased by female sparrowhawk.so I thought of taking a chance in short training but nope still got battered so I just kept them in until now as I get peace from her .so now I'm playing catch up .with training and racing .

Do we start the season to early can I have your opinions on the matter ?

Far too cauld there's still snaw on the hills .😨😨😨

I've said it before and I'll say it again ....im order to keep the sport alive is stop there food supply when they are feeding there own youngsters ....let them fecking hunt for them instead of meals on wheels every day or weekend when we train race our young birds ....
-
well done delboy take a bow my friend
-
Good luck for today for all those that are competing in the xmas race
-
When you say train at 5am is that youngirds
-
Yeah novo there is going to be complications that's why we must try it for 5 year and iron out any problems that occur though out the 5 year because if we keep going the way we are going there's no going to be any young bird racing full stop as guys have had enough getting skuded every week .but we all have to be singing from the same hymn sheet or it's not going to work,,,and the way we can make it happen is stop sending young birds when the bop are teaching them to kill ,we wait until they migrate well most of them anyway,,,,,,and if it doesn't work we can all say at least we tried.

Well done that's what the sport is all about helping a fellow fancier ðŸ‘ðŸ»

Well said Walter ..and as my previous posts said it's just sheer madness that we train and race young birds in the months all the BOP are teaching there young to kill ..but for it to be successful we all need to be to be singing from the same sheet and we need help from the organisations right threw the pigeon sport . E.g. Shu rpra etc
-
Can I just add one thing I can not do this on my own us fanciers need the backing of every organisation conected in our beautiful sport .and hobby .before its too late ....
-
In my opinion the only way young bird racing will be great again is if we moved the by program September October and beginning of November And my reason for this is most perigrinnes migrate leaving us with the sparrowhawk just think about it what would the BOP feed there young when there's no Feds or fanciers giving them meals on wheels ....I'm quite sure it's worth a try for 5 year because what choice have we got because in 5years time young bird racing is finished..
-
Walter that is the way forward I've said it and repeat myself that it's utter madness training/racing when all the bop are teaching there young to kill and yet we fanciers still do it and moan about when things go tits up but don't do nothing about it
-
Our fed had there open race from billericay this year and out the 12 I sent 3 were baldly damaged by BOP And on the subject of injuries I've had 9 damaged in the early part of the season that couldn't fly the rest of the race programme and they races are situated in the east ..
-
Can I say something without getting my head bit off ....if you knew me I haven't raced young birds for at least 7year for the simple fact all the reasons you hear from each fancier bop etc now let's take a bigger picture of the bop surely it's madness training/racing when they are teaching there young to kill ..like most I do not have the answer but for argument sake just say we had a spell with no young bird racing. What would the b.o.p feed and teach there young when there's no big batches going past there hunting ground my guess is that the perigrinnes would probably go back to hunting seagulls as for the others well god help the wild birds and maybe just maybe the rspb would listen to us .that there's a big problem....ps because if we only moan to each other the problem is even bigger the following year and so on like I say I'm not the most knowledgeable guy but it's not going to get better.and surely it's worth a try . Yours in sport DOOMAN
