  1. Thanks Paddymac,my mate is going to england today for a week and is going to bring me some doxcy back and a few others things in case needed as its terrible getting stuff like that in the country without vet cert and all sort of paper work etc so i will stock up on things i may need like wormers, coccy, canker, and baytril but on a brigther note im going to blackpool for the first time in jan so i think my suitcase may be full of all sorts including a microscope thanks again
  2. Well now one of the two birds with blue tongues has got a dirty pinkish wattle while the others are nice and white so could i presume this to be respiratory ?

  5. yea im english and have lived in iceland for 15 years now,see some lofts up last year and enquired as to getting into racing them and joined the club,i think we are about 23 members and they sent up to 450 birds one week in the old birds racing up to 400km so it should be good when i finally get round to racing,i got my birds from Rod Sparkes(my cousin) who won the Federation East Section Champion Loft trophy for the 5th time this year but hes not sure either ,they could of got something off there foster parents because they was hatched in iceland and they dont seem to treat for anything here and thats why i have lots of things going round in my head about what it could be.still eating today although one of them did feel thinner than yesterday so i will check again tomorrow.
  6. The two birds are slightly thinner than the others and have fluffed up appearance and they didnt have the blue tongue a month or so ago so i would say it is some sort of problem but what i have no idea ? im not going to worry too much unless they start to lose alot of weight or dont eat and the like .
  7. he just seems to be fluffed up and not like the others even though hes eating and drinking good with decent droppings and ive noticed his nest mate is the same, all the others are fine so its a bit of a mystery ,with me being new to racing ive got salmonella, worms and all sorts running through my head right now dont want anything to happen to these 8 as its all i have to get me on my way next season breeding with them.
  8. can i mix breeder mix and depurative mix 50/50 as a light mix ?
  9. one of the glaziers here

  11. well i guess that would be a start i can never seem to get a good picture of the pigeons eye ,must be a certain lens and camera setting to do it but it very hard to find that information.
  12. Thanks for the advice ,get some tomorrow with my loft manager (son)

  20. Hi Paddymac yes ive got a 2 inch gap runnning the whole length next to the roof ,im also going to put some bigger louvers on the front and a couple on the side at the bottom and it should be good every seam has been siliconed and no water gets in when i shut it up thanks for the kind comments guys. oh this is my young bird loft using a sliding door 2 section inside pipo boxes one section and v perches other. my breeding loft is going on the back of this one with an aviary, then seperate loft for my old birds when im ready i have noticed the wind does come in the vent at the back and ive been scratching my head how to make it still go out the back so its always sucking air in the front regardless of wind direction or doesnt it matter when the winds blowing directly on it easterly wind at the back and more times than not its that direction
  21. Thanks Paddymac its been hard work with no electric all hand sawn this is the view inside looking at the trap while i was building.
  22. would it be best to put 3 wooden partitions in the entrance before they go through the bobs ,like two wires in each section to help them walk over the ets instead of them just flying or jumping over the ets board ?
  23. My son and i built this our first loft and want some help on the trap please ,it is on top of the aviary and we was considering using bob trap ,the ets has got to be inside the loft which is where i could run into problems as other people say if they use bob traps the birds jump over the ets board so they all use sputniks ,any ideas would be very much appreciated .
  24. thanks i will bare that in mind
  25. Thanks for that ,i have had them on breeder mix since they was born and they are nearly 8 weeks now and starting to body moult so ive changed to a moulting mix and give them versele laga tea and muta.will have a good look at the ventilation in there tomorrow but it smells very fresh every day i go in to clean so i might treat them with versele laga ornicure CONTAINS DOXYCYCLINE - HYCLATE what you think ?
