  4. Thanks mate ive got two pair paired up and treading now so hopefully i will get something happening soon im not rushing them just letting them do what they want but i will train them up and compete if i get a few in time for young birds which starts in august.just curious as to what is already proven in these sorts of conditions .
  5. Just looking to see what fanciers think would be a good proven strain of pigeon to race say 100km up to 400km having to tackle some duanting mountains on there way,at present i have 8 birds as some of you know and these may or may not be up to the job as breeders, time will tell ,they are mainly van der rhees with a couple of them with luc van mechelen in them but im asking this as i may try to aquire some decent stock birds to put in with mine if they are known to do the job im asking, thanks Nick
  6. i used this product for salmonella twice and both time it gave a positive reading so i sent 5 days of droppings to belgium for a culture test and it turned out not to be salmonella but e-coli so just thought id let you know,i personally wont use it again but rather use the money for a culture test.
  7. Thanks everyone for the help it has been very much appreciated
  8. Well just an update ,i decided not to treat just yet but removed one of my birds that was always on the skinny side and have been giving acv, brewers yeast and garlic and a bit of digestal from versele laga to the others and have seen a big improvement in the droppings day by day and the birds are looking nice to me at least so im not going to use meds at the moment heres a few shots of the birds and i also got a new feeder what i can take out and clean

  10. lovely picture and it looks so much like iceland
  11. Thanks for that Wiley it is very much appreciated the advice i get and i will give them a good course of probiotics to see if theres any improvement and take it from there ,if its the same after a good shot of that i shall amoxy them.
  12. not to do anything unless the droppings are not good (watery)he gave me a list what i could use if needed thats resistent and sensitive to it so i will give it a while because 6 out the 8 are looking really nice apart from the droppings.
  13. Yes i think you nailed it mate as the loft where the eggs got hatched in over here is not clean at all tbh green slime in the water container and not cleaned out very often if at all so i got a key off the guy and cleaned it from head to toe and then went in every day cleaning while they was there,he said hes never seen it so clean lol so i reckon that is where the problem came from in his birds feeding my young uns , in my loft i have good versele laga food which is kept in my house also grit and pickstone and every part including the locks, aviary, well everything has been cleaned with virkon s and it is kept spotless as these are all i have to build my team so thats all i have to do ,the good news is it isnt salmonella, anyway i got a list of resistent and sensitive meds that i could use if the droppings are not good which they arnt good (watery)in general so i will have a good think first if i should treat or just get through the winter and see how they are come spring unless there is any change for the worse. ATB Nick p.s it was the best money ive spent getting that culture done
  14. Well just letting you all know i got my culture test back from belgium and it wasnt salmonella but E-Coli so now i know whats going on with them

  23. The weather has changed here ,its been down to minus 8 last few days and snow also i have no electricity just battery powered led lights and cannot get electric where the loft is situated.7 of the birds do look fine tbh and the other 1 i just cant get weight on it ,ive been in touch with a respected belgium vet and im going to send some droppings there for analysis before i take any further action as i think it is the best thing to do now rather than treating blind and would like to say thanks to Wiley for the information he gave me and also everyone else for there help too, with me being a noob in the sport every bit of information is very much appreciated so i thank you all and hope you have a great 2015 season
