the theory of darkness is that your birds think it is winter months dark nights & dark morning, thay only have 8hrs of day light from 9am till 5pm this lasts till the longest day 21st june it is about 8 weeks thay will have a full boddy moult but will not moult there main flights.

if you have only just got them it will take them a few days to settle in thay will go in the trap when thay are ready, it would be better to feed them morning & night take the trough away after feeding, it might be better waiting till you get a few more ybs before thay go outside,
