if you have only just got them it will take them a few days to settle in thay will go in the trap when thay are ready, it would be better to feed them morning & night take the trough away after feeding, it might be better waiting till you get a few more ybs before thay go outside,
i used bos pellets on my first round the birds went mad on them but there was no differance in the rearing of the ybs, as i did not use them on the 2nd round and thay was just as good.
problem is if rats are around thay will chew a new hole in sides of loft or door, best to be rid of them altogether, is your loft off the ground if it is wirer it off, if you no any one with ferritts ask for old bedding and put it under loft or close to edges of loft if at ground leval.
good to hear that things are getting better for you down there, your area has had top fanciers & top results in past years and is a difficult location to fly to due to westerly winds & hawks, all the best.
Ive had them for over 10 years now and have 5 or 6 generations in my birds & have got to no them like the back of my hand, from the 50 or 60 that I had at the begining I cut them down to 25 prize winners over the first 2 years, and as said have only added winners too them, after I have used them as a cross I let them go to other lofts.
I have only one strain in my loft that I now call my own, kirkys, thay are kirkpatrick based all flown and only prize winners kept at end of season,I bring in birds bred from winners to cross into them,
