  3. Second go at a video just a merge of birds exercising over weekend. http://youtu.be/7fm7mXZTiGA
  4. Doing that now mate, the video was from early march before they were paird up. There's 8 yearling there never seen a basket so was taking one thing at a time getting them down the road and used to the basket. Just getting the fitness realy. They now train back to hen that there getting down the road a bit further.
  5. Thanks Andy, video is a month old now. Birds were fitter then than they are now due to cr@p weather we keep getting of late.Lofts are next job my dad gave them a spray in autumn as he's a painter and decorater and has a large airless sprayer. Due to weather could only get one coat on so my job on racedays while waiting will be painting 40ft of loft .
  6. Well.. Got a digital HD camcorder last year and never used it then the mrs got me a video editing program for Christmas so decided I must get them out the box and give them a whirl. First video I've ever made so bit sloppy but who dosent like watching pigeons lol think this is link. Hibb
  7. Remember reading on straps/strays etc and how many of them have gone on to win massive races or bread super pigeons. Obviously not all. Here's an example his name says it all lol http://paulstobbs.com/pigeons/the-gypsy.html wouldn't mind picking Him up at the duck pond. If the hens been wired and badly damaged not the best bird in the world is going to make it home. There not machines
  8. Snap, was up there at 9 soon as I dropped kids at school. Stock birds were claiming sat on 12 day old chicks. Back up at dinner time to check will be back up at 4:30 again to make sure it isn't iced over before nightfall. Times like this I envy people with lofts electric etc in garden. Joys of allotments eh
  9. Am I right in saying the deadline has passed for entrants into this one loft race.?
  10. Looks a beauty mate, you have a race singled out for them?
  11. Not so big without ya mates

Had the first pair ybs chip out today. Thought they had died in eggs but heard them chipping yesterday and were out today So first birds I've bred in over 10yrs shame I won't be keeping these two as there off in the Scottish one loft race one there weaned. Happy days
  14. Couldn't agree more!!!
  15. Only if you give them a pink nest pan
  16. Same with any bops mate has a Harris hawk when he lets it out for a fly not a bird in sight, used to be sparrow hawks nesting in woods near by. Never seen them once last year. Fighting fire with fire
  17. When I first started in 1999 before I lost interest (young, beer and chicks) won my first ever race ybs on natural 1st club 1st fed couldn't believe it. Got to hand it to my mentor and now partner. What was almost as good was it was a young bird off my first ever stock pair I selected and bought down Blackpool at the age of 10. One year after I packed in my partner won queens cup out of 16,500 birds, 1st nehu wish I'd been there that day. However that first and only win I classed as my own, my birds my hard work still get a buzz now. Just hope I cans start where I left off
  18. Defo not bop down here touch wood where lucky at the mo only spuggie hawks. Never seen a Percy wild in my life. Heard of Scottys flying around consett for up to a week in huge batches refusing to clear. But don't know what keeps them but defo not bop down here. Maybe en route.
  19. 1 & 4 for me
  20. 1 & 4 for me. Shame as I think pic 2 doesn't do bird justice as a lot less light than 1st pic

    2012 Xmus Race

Good luck everyone, best day we've had down in Newcastle for 2 weeks so couldn't have planned it any better. All in the birds hands now. Good luck!
  23. Main reason as we are almost starting from scratch again we only have around 10 pairs we are going to breed off so need to try and get 3 rounds off stock pairs and a single round of the few raceing cocks we have just to try and make numbers of ybs up by breeding only off the best birds we have. Also going to swap stock birds around (split and repair hens with different cocks) Hibb
  24. So when do you pair up and why? Early so birds have matured a lot compared to,later bred ybs by time raceing starts Later to save £££ on feeding and extra month or two Later again to get the benefits of better weather for developing young. Please share your views etc We were going to pair up dec 1st but this cold snap put that back so will probably be just before Christmas or just after Hibb
