Any one fly kirkpatrics and have sucess? Thinking of getting the lad I fly with some for christmas try and raise his spirits for next season. I always remember as a young lad watching the White grizzle cock come back from the long race. I know it was his fav so time to re pay the favour for the time and knowledge he invested in me.

Yeah I'll be down Blackpool, are they usually slightly cheaper down there? Just there's so many to choose from some must be better than others. Last time I seen a pigeon film it was on video

Alright chaps, just a quick question, what are your top 5 pigeon DVDs and why. Was thinking of getting Untouchable From Barcelona and Racing Hens and The Magic of Roundabout by John halstead anybody seen these. Worth getting? At 20 quid a pop don't want to get them if there's better or not really anything special. Hibb

Condition seed little before every meal, then 2/3 days a week get homoform instead of seed before main meal. Water wise multivitamin 1 x week gempax middle of week then just try to keep water clean for rest of time unless droppings aren't perfect then maybe a little Cider vinegar

Sorry dontnmknow what up with link. Aye lovely film but sad at same time. What I'd give to have been able to fly back when they were young and the sport was in its prime. If it hadn't been for my primary schools teachers father having pigeons, and her bringing them in to show her class of 7 yr olds I'd have never been none the wiser of racing as a sport. Still remember that b/white pied hen like it was yesterday. We then all went onto school field and liberated the two birds.... Amazing as a small kid

Sapper my fav there's something about him seems a step in front of the rest even old birds when I changed trap design ( they were used to open door) this lad was in within 30nsecs some are still bait edges now after 2 weeks. I've been trying find his family my partner had them gifted to him by a top fancier down here trying to encourage him to keep flying. They are a German breed but he can't remember name he thinks its something like "kip" pigeons or something like that just a short name.... Any ideas I Think ill need lots of it

Sorry it's the way I've wrote it, I'm going to train them up early so about a month before the first race I will have had them at 40 miles tosses at least 6 times them a 60/70 x2 then a 100 miler 2 weeks before first race. Hopefully what's left will cope with first races up to 250 miles. Going to have my work cut out but some are just to good to cull but not worthy of going to stock so ill let basket sort them. Hopefully let me compete inland instead of just channel plus have some old birds for 2014

Some of the birds, only have 6 cocks to race next year 4 yearlings 2011 and 2 older birds who have flew channel so. There's then 10 young cocks from this year however unfortunately these birds have never been raced as my partner had lost interest over the past couple years due to a few close friends of his in the sport passing away. However I'm back with him now after moving back up into my home village and getting things back on track and his heart back into the sport. I plan on selecting 6 of the best yb cocks from this year and training them up early maybe a few 80 mile training chucks and a 100 miler before season starts then try racing them to 250mile this year. Any thoughts on this? Blue channel pigeon and yearling kirkpatrick for channel next year Few yb cocks from this year

Whos Loft Would You Most Like To Visit
hibby replied to THE FIFER's topic in Breeding, Strains & Families
I'll have to do my research I've been looking high and low trying to find genuine kirkpatricks they interest me so much reading the story's of them way back and to imagine what they were racing through. Remember reading an article that when flying into south west Scotland and above these birds were having no navigate over 400 peaks above 2000 ft or something like that starting from the lakes. Amazing!!! -

Locally would have to be Stobbs bros & mosey without a doubt, nationally would be mr and mrs elliott of newbigging read a few loft visits and seen there pigeons (love kirkpatricks) beautiful, not to mention there results out of distance racing which is what I would like to get into this time around. If I could go back intime I think it would be j Kirkpatrick and the men who really captured me as a young lad the janssen brothers. How I'd love to know there secrets and management etc. Hibb -
Split shift 6:30 till 2 then pigeons just to have a look at how there doing, partner fed and waterd them then back off to the slave Pitt 5 till 10 then back in the morning at 6 happy days

Cheers fellas, shame he no longer breeds the birds, wish him all the best in his new adventure. Was a true gent who even though I only met him once at Blackpool got me hooked on this sport and made me realise I could get amongst the results.

Who flys young birds on the darkness and who flys them natural? If flown natural are earlier birds better or not? I'm wanting to focus o/b long distance so see little point in forcing the ybs into moult. Do people agree or disagree that ybs on darkness have some goodness forced out at a crucial age when it can never be replaced? Just interested in people's thoughts Greg

What a coat it's like glass!! Maybe a spoonful of cod liver oil a week. I know when my grandad shows his shepherds and has them on cod liver oil for a few weeks the difference is amazing. John I tried to send you a PM but I won't send don't know if inbox is full or I haven't posted enough yet. Hibb

Couldn't agree more, like I said first ever pigeons I owned were off Derek and the two he gave me for free and topped the fed 1st race with there young I bred of them, such a shame hes not got the Jansens any more gutted. Do you know what birds he's flying for the distance racing? No doubt be top class as well Hibb

Does Jim Hannah still fly? Seems like these birds no longer exist hunted Internet high and low and everything leads to louella who no longer stock them
