you asked about circular vents ?? over here we have some which are fixed on some housing below the "landers" to allow air circulation in the attic space that allows moisture to dissapate ? so try a builders merchant or similar maybe ??

nice to see some pic,s Johny , last year was my first Winter in Scotland after moving "up country " from Wales . i had to cover the lower vents and windows with perspex (what you call plexi-glass) to save the snow coming into the loft
