i have had blues and checkers from this pair before , and fed toppers too ,all cocks by the way , i have a light che in the third nest(not something i normally do) and i am hoping this is a hen ,if so will stay in the stock loft .ive looked and studied (as best i can) to try and figure the relation of coloured off-spring , just hoping this one exception proves me right , but maybe a year or so before i know if i am right Lewis.?? time will tell.

think a lot depends on whats in its make up from ancestory ,i have a blue this time with a "partial" second bar ,very prominent marking . sire is a chequer piet and dam a blue bar .and am absolutely sure no other has been near her .

have used it in the past , for return on long races .but not for a year or 2 now. when i did always used "local" honey ,apparently thats more beneficial to them .

very good post this , i have a mix of darkness and natural yb in 2 sections.and like you ALF have noticed the same ,not all affected ,but when cleaning out ,finding the odd flight or tail feather in both sections .mine were put over end of March first round .also handled a fellow club members birds in the week , and most on the sixth flight .i have assumed like Tony C ,its down to the weather ,not too fussed ,but will be wary of which go to the last races
