Its been nice at Thirsk all afternoon but we held at Alnwick as our convoyer didnt think it was fit to lib with cloud still on the hills - may be that the birds from Thirsk going up into scotland hit the cloud?

Shocking - the poor pigeons wouldn't stand a chance and would have to head in all directions immediately

Absolutely chucking it down at Thirsk. Its got worse since I got up at 6. We too are at Alnwick where I understand its improved but still not good.

If East Coast not going is that the GYA too?

Could it be that all this vacinating our birds is affecting them? In years gone by there was none of this but perhaps the pigeons immunity and strenght is being affected by the chemicals being injected into them? I do think its true that some fanciers think they can send a paper bag and it will win. An ex-fancier in our club sent a bird with one eye, and when one member sent one with only half a wing he said it wasn't like that when he'd basketed. Errmm what had it done, pulled its own flights out in the basket? I think not. I do think that there needs to be greater co-operation between feds throughout the country. Racing North Road in North Yorkshire we have problems with the UNC who can be very secretative and don't always show thought for others racing.

Doesn't that make a farse of the UNC not going when the Durham Combine birds are up. Instead we have to now battle against them tomorrow when we race from Alnwick back to Thirsk originally planned for a sunday to avoiding clashing. Perhaps the UNC are turning into a Sunday club?

Just wondered who was racing tomorrow? The Yorkshire North Road Fed and North & East Yorks Fed are both at Whitley Bay. Thirsk South Road have a training race from Retford.

Are the UNC racing Saturday or Sunday?

Both North and South roaders were going over us at Thirsk at the same height as there was little wind. I understand that North & East Yorks Fed have had a very bad race (they were up at 6.30am from Whitley Bay) - one fancier sent 40 and at lunchtime only had 8 home and 3 of those had been hawked. Those west of the A1, clubs like Harrogate and Killinghall seem to have had a good race but perhaps if they did clash the Geordie birds wouldn't be over there?

Poor - we raced from Whitley Bay and the birds were up at 7. After seeing what must have been the only bad forecast of the country the UNC did not race yesterday but today (we race Sundays for the first 4 YB races to avoid clashing with them). It seems likely that the birds may have clashed as we know fanciers in Kirkbymoorside also have poor returns. Gutted.

The NRCC and YNRF have both flown Lerwick and I dont think there is any further races from the Island this year. Best hope would be to see if the NRCC are at Fraserburgh this weekend and see if you can get it sent across on the waggon for collection at Aberdeen.

Dutchy - my Dutch stray who we settled and won a race for us. He was looking really promising until the stoat got into the loft. Cried for hours that he was the one that was got!

How can D Paine at St Neots who flies 549:1715 and clocked at 07:57 have a negative velocity and not be nearer the top of the sheet?

Good luck to all of you waiting for the Lerwick birds - thinking of you. Remember sitting many a Lerwick night like you will be now but dont give up, it's one hell of a racepoint and every bird making it home has made a great achievement.

The Yorkshire North Road Fed are at Fraserburgh this weekend so if can't find anyone else I'm sure if you went and spoke to our convoyer he could liberated on his way back down country after our race as know he goes down the West coast.
