    blackpool

There were auctions in the Opera House on the Friday afternoon last year. It was for PJ lofts as far as I remember.
  3. Hi Jimmy---what I was thinking was did Lowik Bros think that Bob had taken the originals and improved on them by racing them in a harsher environment.
  4. At Blackpool show last year there was a sale on behalf of Lowik Brothers. In that sale there was a pigeon which had been bred by Bob Mc Donald which they bought at his sale. This made me think about why a Dutch loft bought a Scottish pigeon when that family originated in Holland. I'm not sure whether or not I have reached a conclusion yet.
  5. It is interesting to note that the Elimar sale is an online and Auction Room sale. Yet another method of pushing up the selling price.
  6. Most prices will be inflated. Use the show simply to look at families of birds you would like to introduce then approach someone who has these during the breeding season. Avoid buying at the show.

Due to the fact the original poster has not contributed further to this thread it is my opinion that it was raised as a windup. I have been known to be wrong but not often ;D ;D ;D
  8. No doubt about it. It was a superb performance.
  9. Well let's just say I wouldn't like to pick up the bill for candles. Note-----I have a number of good friends there.
  10. A small village perhaps but there were some super fanciers there
  11. I know where the second National cock was last year. About 5 miles from me. I think Charlie Mc Kerrow of Crosshouse club bay have some Stoddarts remaining. Not many as he has a few Mc Aloney birds now. Charlie worked with Divett
  12. Glad to see the Stewart Divett's pigeon being mentioned here. That was an awsome performance into the west with the odds stacked against the bird. Yes I believe the breeding was JP's Stoddarts. Good hardy birds. A friend of mine was gifted this cock last year and he said it was still filling eggs at 19 years of age. The performance of Hotrod's pigeon Karen's Girl should also be mentioned as that was also a stunning performance against the odds.
  13. I have always found the theory of genetics to be a waste of time. Much too deep for me. Johnesybhoy-----I seem to recollect that I was once told that the tail grand dam was the most important ancestor on a pedigree. That is the mother's mother. Could just be an old wives tale.
  14. There is a company near me who make a moss killer. I believe it is used in the building trade to kill moss on concrete before coating it again. The company name is T.R. Bonnyman. I spray it on the bonoblicked driveway and it kills the moss between the block.
  15. Just as well the birds are indoors
  16. He's at the windup. He knows nowt
  17. Absolute rubbish weather for both man and pigeon

    Protein

Best thing you can do is visit a grain merchant and ask for samples.
  19. I believe the theory behind vaccination is that if the disease against which you are treating is present when you vaccinate then the vaccine is ineffective and the body cannot build the antibodies against that disease. Pmv is easy to spot and there is no treatment so we simply vaccinate. Paratyphoid/ Salmonella can lie hidden and we don't know it's there so treatment with an antibiotic removes it and allows the vaccine to do it's job. I have never done this but I am simply quoting what I have read.
  20. As Baby Bird has said they need to be treated with the antibiotic first to make sure they are free of Salmonella before they are vaccinated.

    Jim Jenner DvDs

I have not seen the new ones yet but I bought the Jenner dvd which was released last year and I thought it was good value for money.
  22. Absolutely correct
  23. You've been listening to Hotrod again. Having said that once he puts it into gear none of us have much option.
  24. Yes Tuff Nutt was a gift. When I visited him DarK Peron had just won some special challenge in the NFC. Brian told me he had some Van Hee blood in him via pigeons selected for him By Jack Paley at Louella. Brian then introduced some more. His philosophy is that you introduce pigeons and subject them to the type of racing you enjoy. If the survive you keep them but if you lose them then they did not suit your management. I don't have as much cash as you Frank to buy DVDs.
  25. I think you will find that the dark pigeons raced by Brian Denny go back to Fallowhill Superstar although they will be crossed with his original family.
