  1. I mailed Steve the editor yesterday. He apologised and said that they had been sent out on time but the distributor had lost a full pallet of them. They were foung Tuesday in Sheffield. I was at my newsagents this afternoon but still no joy. Note BHW have offered to post out a free copy.. My problem like everyone else was trying to plan my Blackpool weekend.
  2. When I saw him do this it was mainly local clearance sales. He also bought 36 youngsters from Louella and only looked at the pedigrees after they had either completed or failed in the final young bird race.
  3. Absolutely spot on. I had a mate who would buy pigeons at clearance saled and only looked at it's prize cards. He never even handled the birds.
  4. I know it is a mild disinfectant and my mentor many years ago always said I should use it in the drinking water twice weekly. Something you may not know is that poultry fanciers who showed Rhode Island Reds bathed them in this to colour the feathers before showing.

    Vacination..

The last information I had was that the immunity given does not even last for a full year. PMV vaccination only gives 10 months immunity unless the vaccine has been improved recently. But yes we are being ripped off.

  8. I have taken redundancy but before that I was a Shift Manager for a Pharmaceutical company.
  9. Same story here. 2 wasted trips to the newsagents but all credit to him he offered me the Christmas and New Year Editions ordered by another guy. I wonder if the Editor of the BHW actually knows how poor the distribution is over the festive period.
  10. Ayrshire a light covering of snow overnight. Seems slightly warmer now.

    Who..??

I think that is correct. I think he is an in law. I think the racing loft was at his home. Suggesting he was the pigeon fancier.
  12. What started as a deliberate wind up has actually taken the form of a good debate. Well done lads
  13. I had intended to drive to bLACKPOOL. Surely the snow will be gone by then.

    GLOBAL WARMING

They are experiencing temperatures of 40 degrees in Southern Australia at the moment. How jealous are we?

    all white tonite

Perhaps one benefit to all this snow is the fact we are keeping our birds in the loft. This may affect the BOP food supply.
  16. I doubt if red mite would be very active in these temperatures. Probably a temperature thing.
  17. well out of my range. Good luck to the buyers.
  18. Yes Derek Smith definately flew Kempeneers and wrote articles in the Pictorial. The 2 hens from Derek which Brian names were Lolita and Oyster. I don't think they were Kempeneers. Brian at one time also had some deBaeres which flew well but I don't think they left a mark. I had pigeons from him 10 years ago from the Bordeaux cock, Classic Lad, and Blue pau lines including some direct from these pigeons. These were light chequers mainly. The birds he times now are predominantly dark chequers. This originates from the Van hees. His stock loft at that time had a unique feature in that an apple tree grew through it. It would be difficult to find a more genuine couple than Brian and Thelma.
  19. Probably Keith Mott who, I think, has actually made 2 of Brian
  20. I think many of the originals came from Derek Smith of Great Ayton---Lolita lines. Some of the Dark pigeons are Louella Van Hee based through Fallowhill Superstar.
  21. There is absolutely no doubt that Enoch was a man of great vision. His "Rivers of Blood Speech" is available on the net for anyone who would like to refresh their memory.
  22. The roads here are clear but the pavements are treacherous.
  23. Depends on what races you are interested in when you pair. Personally I would spend some time with them make sure they are in optimum condition---not too heavy and by then the weather might be warmer.
  24. Doxy is a member of the same family of drugs.
  25. Good post. The presence of calcium interferes with the absorption of tetracyclines into the body. In some areas they actually recommend the use of deionised (purified) water to avoid this.
