    Disaster

No problem it's certainly had a decent fly. It's a chequer pied with some white on the head.

    Disaster

Good I have already reported it via the SHU but the main thing is to get it back to him. I am located about 10 miles SW OF Glasgow airport in Ayrshire. I only examined it in semi darkness but it looks unharmed and in good condition.

    Disaster

This may be irrelevant but I have a Fife youngster in today. It's ring number is Su15F3762 . It's a chequer pied and is very fresh. If not yours I will report it via the SHU

He would be spoilt for choice now with Westminster and Hollyrood!

It's not just the fog which is a problem at this time of year. This is the week approaching Guy Fawkes.
  6. I have never tried this. My thoughts being that in order to compete as athletes they need to be well exercised (trained and raced) all their lives to develop properly.
  7. As you say Stuart a sad loss. I wonder if he reads this thread could he make a recommendation of a potentially good young distance cock got an absentee bidder! I am more than certain that a few will catch the eye.
  8. I fly in Beith club. We currently have 7 members. 2 of us have secured alternative arrangements should it all go belly up. Personally I am happy enough to continue supporting the club as it has been a big part of my life since 1968. However, there are factors out with the club which have a negative effect on my attitude ( that was just about as diplomatic as I can be).
  9. It's a thought at the moment and it may not happen but we need a clear way forward
  10. Thanks for that Alf. I might not be able to attend as our club AGM has a motion to possibly disband the club.
  11. Ok thanks for that. I don't buy the BHW I am afraid. It was never delivered on time so I cancelled. Our AGM Starts at 14:00 so big decisions needed here.
  12. Best post on the thread!
  13. Yes Gareth did a huge amount of work especially for Lanarkshire Federation. He will be sadly missed. Does anyone have details of the sale time and location would help. A sale list would be even better. Hopefully, it's not Sunday coming as this is our club A.G.M.
  14. Although I have never tested them my impression has always been that pigeon droppings contain urine which, in turn, contains ammonia and derivatives of ammonia and therefore must be alkaline.
  15. I doubt if the above article has much scientific basis. To me it is based on supposition much like most of the other pearls of wisdom posted on FB. However it could be the article which the original poster quotes so thanks for posting.

    Choose An Area

Yes it was and I believe the source of the problem was circo virus.
  17. Apple cider vinegar and lemons are acidic. I don't know about garlic which I suspect will also be acidic. It looks as though there is a crossed wire somewhere. Once I bought an alkaline product which was supposed to neutralise the buildup of lactic acid in the blood following a hard race. I used this product once and never again as the feather quality deteriorated within 24 hours of using it.
  18. I believe that there are a few fanciers on FB who are prepared to keep this going till we have a more satisfactory result.
  19. Brushed under the carpet again. Still the fancier who provided the rings has not been named.
  20. That would be well outside my remit I think. We would all need to raise our game considerably to achieve that!
  21. I looked closely at the North section average trophy last night. If memory serves me correctly this trophy has been running for 16 years. There were 5 years when it was not won and of the remaining years which I think is 11 there is only one name on it - that of J and A Donaldson. Now is that inspirational or phenomenal?
  22. All turbines are an eyesore but any alternative to nuclear reactors has to be a positive step I feel.
  23. I agree. To have any chance of competing (being on the Open result) at Nationals the birds from the west need to come up the west side of the Pennines. Unfortunately many fanciers are not interested in distance raving. They seem to think that it's acceptable to have very few pigeons left by the time they reach 200 miles. They are incapable of raising their game and are happy to wallow in self pity.
  24. Quality pigeons such as you have will do the jumps no problem when fit. The problem lies with fanciers who are lesser pigeon men than you are who will have high losses and use their vote to return to a less ambitious programme. We do, however , need some luck with early season temperatures.
  25. Reading between the lines they are trying to avoid the Otterburn area. Then again you probably surmised that
