    HENS

There are grills on the floor already, and single perches on front of boxes. the hens will still get on the floor even with the floor grills. These hens will be flying to cocks who will not go to the races so will be there at all times. Ive never seen them so amorous when they land from their flight some are like cocks chasing hens john

    HENS

Gez When you house widow hens I find its easier to stop them pairing with feed and isolation etc but when you are trying to get them into race condition its difficult as you tend to feed for the race. I was hoping to get away from boxing them up but maybe I will have to john

  12. You are absolutly right this is the best time for it to emerge. it was about the same time last year that the outbreak in Scotland was confirmed and we got a programme plus some Channel. watching the news this morning they are stating that prevention is impossible due to it being carried on wild birds. maybe Pete Bryant can use this to our advantage by claiming that stopping pigeon racing will not stop the outbreak from happening again. I remain fairly optimistic for this year, as this flu is here to stay so we have to carry on regardless. I do think we should be seen to be doing as much as possible to help the poultry industry as for us lads and lasses it is a hobby to these people it is their livlihood, most of us dont depend on our birds to put food in the mouths of our children the personnel involved in the poultry industry do. I feel sorry for these guys, we only have to suffer no racing they lose their jobs. looking at the other side some fanciers have called for a season with no racing to help control the peregrine population.... Would it be a solution? John
  13. Mick Masserrella did at the Savoy
  14. Could I just add here from another angle "What difference does it make as long as the parents are correct" most people dont fly the ring but the pigeon itself. To me it would be deception to put a ring on saying its from such a pair whereas in fact they are not. also if people wish to purchase dutch originated pigeons then it is false advertising john
