Andrew hitchcock was selling some on other sites and was struggling to get bids of £10-£15 so dont pay him anymore than that for one. Paul. -

In a word yes. If you just want to breed for colour you will pick one up. As previous reply Louella sell them, phone them and they may take one along for you. I have had them in the past but not now but there are plenty around dont let anybody let you think they are hard to come by. Paul. -

No No No. Keep your money you will get one cheaper than that. Some of the cheq/ blue/ pencil Meulemans will breed chocolates. But if you want it purely for colour you will get one much cheaper than that. Jaap Van Alphen sells them on Elimar for £40-£50 as a last resort but you will pick one up for a lot less than you have been offered. Are you going to Blackpool? Paul. -
Dont agree with that one Andrew but each to their own. Paul.

Spot on. I would never do for more than one day although they are more robust than we think. It is the same for cats and dogs, their metabolism is not designed for them to be overfed or even fed everyday. hence the reason all the health problems cats and dogs develop why should it be different for pigeons if done sensibly. Paul.

Totally agree Vic. I do it for hens only and miss a feed for one day every couple of weeks. Helps keep fat off them if they are not getting excercise and will help allieviate any breeding problems with the hens when pairing comes round (hopefully) Paul.

There is very few I dont like. Dark pieds with a nice nut brown eye take a bit of beating medium apple boied with an elegant 'face'. I still have a liking for Mealies from my childhood, but my favourite colour will be the colour of my next prizewinner if there are to be any. Paul.

Welcome along Pete. Enjoy the banter and keep an open mind. All the best, Paul.

Nice colour of bird. Hope you enjoy them. Paul.

Hi Chris. Get some tobacco stalks or straw and stick in a corner of the loft. The birds will soon lift and carry the materials to the bowls. If your birds are getting out at the moment ( dependent on raptor problems where you are) a good idea to have the materials outside the loft and the birds will spend hours lifting and carrying in and out of the loft. This can help burn off any winter fat there may be. Personally this is one of my favorite times of the year sitting watching the cocks go in and out of the loft with nesting materials. Nest building also helps strengthen the bond between cock and hen. Dont get too hung up on how the build some will take masses of material into the bowl and others will take just a few twigs or bits of straw. Paul.

Guys this thread has meandered a bit. Rafa got into the ring with Fergie got a standing eight count and left with a bloody nose and a blackeye. The best team dosent always win at the end of the day. Arsenal have played football at times over the years to eclipse both of them and have won nothing for a while. The point is Fergie tried to win up Rafa which he obviously did. Rafa reacted which is exactly what Fergie wanted and Liverpool have suffered as a result. I personally dont think Liverpool are robust enough to win the title. I think united will kick on from here and regain the title. United had a poor start which Liverpool have had many times in the past few years but they have never got back into the race that for me is the real difference. But like I said I am not a Man U fan and it will be very interesting over the next couple of months. Who do you think slept more soundly last night Fergie or Rafa? Mind games dont you just love them. Paul.

Well done mate hope it works out ok! Paul.

problem cock!!
Blue Chequer Pied replied to andrecrock's topic in Novices, Beginners & Young Fanciers
If you have a spare section put the two of them in it and they will pair easier. Alternatively if all the others have paired and are locked in the boxes let him and both the hens you have tried him with have the run of the section and hopefully one will take to him and he can entice her into his box. Remember to close up his box if you put him into another section so that another cock does not take it over as well as his own or you will get fighting. Paul. -
At least you saved the bird Steve but the bas**ard will be back. Paul.
