No competitor in any race, show or exhibition shall be entitled to win a prize unless the ring carried by the bird was issued to the owner, or had been transferred to and registered in the name of the owner in accordance with the provisions of the preceding rule for a period of 14 days prior to the date of the race, show or exhibition. Proof of ownership of winning birds must be given to the organisers or promoters before prize money is handed over.

when they scanned the croud last year Dave Minty was there! They let anybody into the matches these days! ;D

It may go back to region but if they did turn the clubs decision over it could be apealed to council and i'm sure they would want to know why the region ignored the problem in the first place. As it stands nobody can take it to council to be resolved.

a few years ago a guy won at Blackpool, when the bird was verified it did not belong to him! 10 rings that had been registered and given to a member had then been sold or given by that member to another member who had used them! He blamed the club sec for not registering them in the right name and nothing happened at the region! He was aware that the birds were not in his name as he had already had a problem when trying to transfer some of the rings to a 3rd member!

I've done the same with NFC and CSCFC winners but as you say you just check the bird is at the correct location etc but its down to the organisation to check ownership with the union. All clubs have the provision to check ring numbers but as you say, very few bother!

All clubs should verify any birds winning prize card/money before anything is paid out/awarded!

The club that thrown the bird out should apeal to council and i'm sure region will be taken to task!

Just a sugestion but due to the problems if there are members with no interest in the auctions would they be kind enough to stay offline for an hour when the end is near to help reduce the risk of an overload again?
