straw can be good if sprayed and very clean and dry,, but if left damp ,mould will quickly form . this is usually the cause of aspergilliosis

when i had an aviary i managed to get that flat, double thickness stuff, they used on consevatories , from a mate who did this work [thats why they were large cuttings ;D 8 by 4 ;D], i covering the whole roof, with a large overhang,, and half the sides back and front, a concrete floor with a run on it, into a drain , this enabled me to put the bath in , then when emptying it , brushed it all out with virkon s ,,,,, but hated keeping birds prisoners , so finished off letting them out

took the words from my mouth , rose ,dry straw with, a good spray with virkon s ,should be ok,, but for some reason the birds like carrying tobacco stalks [thats what i use] but was allways thinking of using pine needles,, but" thinking" was as far as i got

i think you will allways get buyers and sellers,, the honest sellers can be an advantage , but unfortunately there are dishonest sellers ,but fortunately these are usually found out very quickly , its really a case, if buying pigeons , do your homework [mind you , you can get good pigeons free ,if you do more homework ]

for peace and friendship in the pigeon fancy

yes that could be possible chris [an independant judge] as it was a little fun at the time ,, but caused a fair bad doo , especially for the webmaster
-
this is very true, especialy at this late time,, so near to blackpool time , but could be thought about for next year,,

we did this ,, but found the poll to be unfair

scrape well, then spray virkon s , then scrape [its easy then] to the bare wood ,then spray again,,, a spray of virkon s anywhere in the loft , its great stuff and approved by defra nowt wrong with the old bleach,, but takes time to dry , and no way could you use it wet , but still very good

i would say [keeps me in the middle ;D] without proper management ,, unsuccessfull without proper stock ,,,,,unsuccessfull but with plenty good well bred pigeons around to-day , i would stick my neck out and say management 80 per cent maybe a bit on the high side , but i beleive that good management can select pigeons capable of winning and cabable of using them in the proper way you will see the same names at the top often with completely different breeds or birds , these fanciers are both stock and racing fanciers that have prooved themselves for many years , only my opinion

there is no doubt in my mind the person i would nominate would be bruno , and now i,b ,, this man , like him or not, has posted hundreds of helpfull posts on illnesses , inc, avian flue, many many more ,, put a lot of time in this forum to seek out a lot of info, ,, off course there are many more , who have enormously helped pb by the most sensible informative postings also the mostly unseen ones the fifer who does a lot of unseen work to keep this forum running , [hard work ] shadow, another who hasnt been mentioned , usualy short and to the point , but rarely wrong far too many to mention , tony c a lot of sense and a great humour , just far to many to mention ,, but ib by a nose ;D

the old story crops up often ,,,,,, what percentage pigeon - - what percentage management [or man or woman ] , weve had this post on in the past,[a few years ago], it would be interesting to see if if it were any different to-day
-
many shows are held in the evening, but a venue,, at that time, may proove difficult

my father raced pigeons as j white and son in millerhill rpc ,,,me being the son i became very interested when i got a stray in [su 51 ca 4406 ] hope the owner forgives me now i actually dont know if my father reported it and got to keep it,, but it was "my bird" i then got my dad to buy me a mate [out the petshop, two bob ] from then on ,,pigeons and pigeons , my first trophy was in 1958 which i still treasure ;D unfortunately my father died at the young age of fifty and prooved to be a good pigeon flier at that time

[my brother, who shows canaries and secy of some club, does this defra work , i should imagine he would be well in the know,,but wonder if this would be poss,, even at the stand :)it surely hold about 20 odd pens up , even three high but again , i really wouldnt know if this was poss richard would have to look well into it
