very well said 67 ghirl,, sometimes we have to put life in to perpective,, i wish all pb members a very merry christmas, and a healthy happy new year i would very much ask for thoughts to be with my cousin sheena at this time, i attend the funeral to-day of her newly born twin girls which both died shortly after their birth last mon. morn , sheena is 36 and has no family , the family are devastated , things like this really put life in to perspective , and sometimes make our petty quarrels mean very little . but life must go on , and we all must accept the ups and downs of life, sometimes ,very difficult , but we must carry on , all we can do is wish sheena, and indeed all , a much brighter future , and sincerely better 2009

Groups meet to discuss racing pigeon and peregrine
jimmy white replied to micko and jack's topic in Predators
i cant find the old postings on hawks etc, this told a true story,, also the public being made more aware of the pigeons of war [on racing pigeons ..sticky thread] how these gallant birds saved so many lives -
Groups meet to discuss racing pigeon and peregrine

at least unions are talking , i beleive all unions should, the rspb have the money the propaganda machine which is suffice for them,, we only talk as pigeon fanciers, there is the s.o.s, save our song birds group ,, this organization, is made up of dis-satisfied rspb members,[who know the inside truths of the rspb] , , i believe the pigeon fanciers should be collective members of this organization , as it is not just the song birds that are fastly dissapearing , most other birds are too, including pigeons , whether racing ,or backyard pigeons , , i beleive that in scotland the rspb believe the perigrines and sparrow hawks have risen in numbers [but they will deny the proper numbers, they have risen by] so this is at least a start, pigeon fanciers , twitchers , song bird lovers , unions , should all [in my opinion ]be pulling from the same rope. at least, by all pulling together , the rope will be pulled harder,, ,,,,but never to give in , and unions never use it for their own propaganda,, all should be together in this, in bringing the true side of the story to the public -

yes thats true b h but i think at that age , maybe needs some understanding ,, and things could be easily solved i would just like to remind members , this trophie was presented by clockman to pigeon basics in remembrence of a good freind of mine, who, in dying with cancer ,, had great enjoyement from this site , i took him out in a wheelchair as much as could with gordon hunter helping me,, i saw this pigeon fancier go down hill each day , untill the day he died,, he left 6 children , we had a small collection [where i put in £100,, ] and realized about £ 300 for his wife,,, im quite sure he would be shocked if he saw these postings ,,, members argueing about things thet havent a clue about ,, surely a sorry state of affairs -

i wouldnt advice that , if you couldnt get the floor dried right away ,, if it lay damp could be a haven for cocci oocysts [eggs ] and worms , you could allways mop it up , with disinfectant then dry it with a fan heater , but a lot of work and time, i would try and get a set of 4 show pens , put them outside ,on a decent day, then lightly spray them with tepid water, with an empty mr muscle container [or the likes ] but really better with the floor bone dry

Darkness young birds
jimmy white replied to andrecrock's topic in Novices, Beginners & Young Fanciers
if putting y,b,s on darkness , i would do right away[remenber the shortest day is 21 dec ], from then on a minute or so lighter] but i would much prefer ybs to be seperated middle of march , then use curtains or blinds , but remembering ventilation is very important , i would put these ybs on the full daylight on the longest day , i have personally found yb,s bred at that time proove to be better birds [their trained ,then at an earlier age] rather than the ones rung b4 or at the beginning of the year , these birds are in fact the previous years late breds , which i have found to be 6 month old b4 training , ifind the younger they are trained the better -
easier reading here on this post in my opinion

great post paulo,, i would add just one more rule "learn to be a good loser" as you will lose more, unfortunately, than you will win, especialy in top competion,, so losing gracefully is best , then trying harder,, this is what sport is really about, but really a great and interesting post , and all very true

i would feed on the floor , learning them to eat communialy rather than in the boxes, this can make the cocks very aggressive , and in my opinion wouldnt eat as much, fight more in the basket during a holdover,, but a little pinch of something they like in their boxes , after their feed
