  3. many years ago we used to use the phrase "going light" as a specific desease,,the cause of a pigeon going light can be many,, cocci ,canker, etc etc , but if flagyl has cured it,, its been a touch of canker ,,i suspect the going light tablet was white sesqui,, which is bi-carb of soda

    Ferrets

  8. great news ted,, hope all goes successful with you
  9. very good informative post, allthough would allways advise advice from a top avian vet, especially in the use of anti-biotics [which i feel some fanciers overdo] only my opinion

unfortunately , not from that area, but when my" jill" ferret [female] goes into season, and has young, youd be more than welcome to a couple

  12. brittish birds ,,,,over 500miles scottish birds
  13. a good clean loft with clean water,, plenty fresh air and bone dry,, and most certainly no anti-biotics,,,,only my opinion
  14. this tonic,, still widely used ,,,from , murray and mills ,,,,,,everything for pets,,etc,, has stood the test of time [my father swore by this,, as a lad i paid seven and sixpence for a bottle of this from our local chemist , who also stocked the old keatings powder,, which off course was banned many years ago [containing d,d,t,] johnstones tonic, was[and still is] used as a quick pick me up, containing iron[vit b] aquas iodine, salts minerals , etc,, incedently the rusty nail method was used many years ago ,, but was found to cause bad bacteria in the water would certainly not advise this method now,, but johnstones pigeon tonic, very good
  15. from the kits, ,,,,,, have had birds from both tumley lofts louella, and tumley lofts ,[nothing wrong with either] tumley lofts leen boers absolute stunners, scored in snfc yb national few years back,, would have preffered the jan aardens from there , but they were all booked up , at that time ,,small stud,,,big reputation , most yb,s bred direct from prizewinners and in turn going back to the original champs , must admit good buys at reasonable prices ,, but perfect specimans i gennuinly beleive that any pigeons need proper management to show their real worth,,
  16. gravel, sand, salt all stop slugs , even crushed up egg shells but the old slug pub works ,, a can , with little beer at the bottom ,, will soon be filled with slugs , but strange getting them in this weather, with hard frost etc,, anyway, watch the birds dont drink the beer , you might not have the best birds, but youll certainly have the happiest ;D ;D ;D
  17. that yearling cheq cock above , is double g/son of invincible spirit
  18. talking about the late willie mc alpine,, i remember donaldson bros. dunbar,, many years ago,, great, lifetime fliers, sadly deceased many years ago,,,their birds over the years had their red sandstone wall allmost falling down, with their birds constantly picking at it,over the years,, ...., they would never repair it , but left the birds to pick on purpose
  19. ooh a bit to close to here for comfort , i thought we had lost the snow,, but sky very, grey, snowy looking, and still very very cold, here in the lothians

  23. dont let gangster have any ;D ;D ;D hes english ;D ;D ;D
  24. after 103 attempts by me,, mitch,,, spiderman catches them,, both are being looked after,, treated, and built up , they will be reported , i know one is a b,bar yearling,, the other a 5 year old grizzle seems they had belonged to an old chap who, sadly died ,, i have been in touch with ,,krankin,,,[kirsty] many times ,,,,104 times ;D ;D ;D really , kirsty has done brilliantly , and just b4 the heavy snow too,, the birds were healthy enough,, but lost some body,, but looking top of the world now,, ill get the ring nos and print them up well done kirsty [we really had a real laugh in these pm,s , but she was genuinly concerned over these pigeons
  25. cant see any probs with a bath at most any time,,,,,,only if the water has enything added to it,, like a spot of detergent for instance , this would take their natural waterproofing from them , then they could actualy be litteraly soaked to the skin,, but normal bath,, ok,,, jimmy 21 ;D
