How To Feed YB's Properally, Please Help
jimmy white replied to crizmor13's topic in Novices, Beginners & Young Fanciers
im really sorry to hear of your bad luck in the past year, in contracting this dreaded yb sickness, this seems to be more common these last few years , than at any other time, although there is much advise on this on the forum, i have found that stress is the main factor in this disease,, off course yb,s will be put through stress in racing and training, but to avoid any unnecessary stress is a must,, i,e overcrowding, under ventilation etc,.... in your case dont think youve had a fair crack at your feeding/racing system because of this disease, i dont see anything wrong in this system, but sure wish you better luck next year , to at least try it, best of luck -
the true meaning of widowhood is actually racing hens, without cocks the racing of cocks with out hens is really widowerhood , but were used to calling this system , be it with cocks or hens , the widowhood system,,,, to explain the system would need to fill a book [dave alan in fact has a book on this, there is also many dvd,s on this ] , there are many wide and varied ways, on racing this system, mostly racing cocks , which only see their hens b4 the race, and after the race, even this is not always so, but is more commonly done,, but an impossible question to answer in a post, my best advice would be read up on it, or better still befriend a good w/hood flier,,study every move he makes , listen to all he says, and spend as much time with him or her as possible and take every thing in,

fanciers with experence help please

you can still win in your loft location, it may mean you will have your work cut out for yourself.,,,, there are, and always will be fanciers with better loft locations, so the better the loft system, the training, and above all the right pigeons and this can be possible,, and most good fanciers know a good result, when they see one, it might not be winning the race, but a very desirable position in the race, ,, they will know its a goodun lol ,, the further the distance the less the loft location counts , especially at club level,, and off course an east wind would suit best enjoy your birds, and try your hardest, good luck -

im sure they will manage to settle to their new loft quite quickly,, once they have been fed a few times in their new loft, let them out, they will soon know where they now get fed ,,in their new loft -

certainly worth a thought,, the paragraph about the rings i feel makes a valid point,, these rings are purchased by the fancier therefore belong to the fancier, if the rspb regularly clear these rings from the nest sites, then do not return or report these rings to the owners who purchased them and registered them, surely they must be recognized as stealing them,, they cannot deny they do this, as the rings have been seen on their own webcams ,, maybe a webcam should be setup by fanciers, to catch them doing this??? shoe on the other foot!!! -
maybe another tip comming up to mating time, yearlings cacks be very akward in wanting two boxes,, if one persists in going into the other box, tie a short length of string on the stubborn cocks legs,, , itll soon be thrown out the wrong box ,,by the right cock

well done paul,, good to see it in the paper
