  4. i would completely endorse this post
  5. has the tail been pulled out at any stage?? if the hardly newly moulted tail was pulled out, this would come out as blood quills , and could damage the new tail growing in,, i,e poor moulted new tail ,,,, but a picture would help

  10. shake ;D ;D ;D a little later though 1990,, now looking for o.a.p any age 65 to 90 ,,able to dig garden, clean lofts, paint, cook ,, and thats all ;D ;D ;D
  11. birds love a hot bath ;D especially after a race, where any knocks , bumps, etc can be soothed,, they will soon go into very hot water, as a pigeons temperature is a good few degrees higher than ours, ,, and the steam does them good too ;D
  12. maybe later blaz ,,,,, the thread would be better on the" photos section" where you can have your own thread,,[," blaz,s pics,",,,its there for keeps that way] then add to it at any time,,,i.e the yb,s bred off these birds can be added next year,,, would proove an interesting thread ,, as it soon moves through the realms of the main notice board, in no time,,, just an idea blaz,, but good pics
  13. i certainly did blaz ;D ;D ;D ;D [same way as you look at the mrs > > >],, hes a game old codger,, [the bird i mean blaz, ;D,,,not you ;D ;D ;D]
  14. some great pics blaz.. and some cracking looking birds
  15. very sad, rest in peace tony,, condolences to all family
  16. how did you get on paul,, well i hope
  17. i find if they havent been, at least trained,i would they are easier to loose as yearlings,, but if they have had some training, this would def help,, i wouldnt train them through the winter though, light too late ,,dark too early and unpredictable weather , but leave the birds to have a good moult ,,,, pigeons can be very surprising at times, and sometimes with a little patience and just a few races as yearlings,, as mature birds at 2 year old,, the skies the limit
  18. yes, thats good thing in my opinion,, as theres a rim round the base of the nest pan, and if flat on the deck,, makes the holes in the bottom of the nest pan useless
  19. i think thats spot on frank,, always worth experimenting on , but as you say, a little more complex than most think, the same lofts, say, in a different spot, may need different ventilation i,e some are in closed in areas others in the open areas etc,, etc , well worth experimenting to get it right,,
  20. prefer to scrape i feel that with grills, the ammonia in the damp droppings would be rising up in front of the birds,, :-/
  21. some great info here, very interesting as the ventilation is very important, i remember experimenting on this in many different ways ,, one was a simple 8 by 6 apex loft,, 2 louvres on the bottom front, 2 on the bottom back , i cut the apex 4 inches either side, full length of the loft,, then put a false apex about 4 inches higher, over lapping slightly the 4 inches either side [meshed the 4 inch gap ] on putting a smoke bomb, found the smoke disappearing in no time, out through the long gap in the roof, [i still work in inches ;D ;D ;D],, but it did work, and the few birds in it did very well,,,,,, maybe thats another point,, the more birds need the more ventilation
  22. brilliant for these two young lads, both are as keen as mustard,, ,, and both good too ;D very happy for both these lads, and mums , dads,,,, and feel sure both of them will be [or even are ] top drawer fanciers, best of luck to them both
  23. young ones with one eyed cold ,, bubbles ;D
  24. lovely grizzle this one
  25. could poss come under tips , a sure sign of one eyed cold is small BUBBLES ,, on the inside of the lower eyelid,, many fanciers often blame a pick in the eye,, but these bubbles will prove one eyed cold ,,a pick in the eye might cause a watery eye ,, but without these tiny bubbles
