  4. cant see it doing the birds any harm , especialy at a new house where pigeons havent been pooping all over the place , ive often dug a few mole hill earth ,put in a dish for them ,,,free minerals ;D
  5. i think fi fi that being a woodpigeon , they are naturaly wild birds, and have differant feeding habits than homing pigeons or indeed street pigeons , they need a lot of greens and certain insect life etc [have seen the inside of a crop of a woody packed entirely with clover] so really wouldnt think it was getting the proper feeding you could give i do realise your well meaning , best a vet advise :)good luck
  6. agree with this entirely,, an instance, drove to carter bar [high hill] pea souper all the way , but on arriving at the top of the hill , pure blue sky [and the most oddest veiw, just a blanket of low lying mist] birds back no prob, would be exceptionaly carefull with ybs, prefer a slight wind , pigeons seem to prefer this also. too strong a wind is courting for accidents [low flying, hedge hopping]
  7. have used ivermectin,,,no probs at all ,,

  17. not sooking in with andy,,,but hes by far the worst position in his fed furthest west, hes never out the result ,, and as far as nationals go, cockburnspath is flying the same distance as him , yet its nearly 30 miles east of him, so hes getting no favours but look at his results ,, got one in my hand at the mo, allmost £3000 yearling race only,,,IN THE FED ;D
  18. agree entirely, with andy, was simply trying to use that post to explain the two extremes,,
  19. im not blaming anybody , just pointing out what happens when yearlings have had too much to do,,,, their not machines [record would be around 1996 cant remember excactly but have the result somewhere, ,no its not been broken since ;D
  20. i can understand completely what your saying, and can agree with most of the posts ,to a certain extent ,,,but is it the race point or is it the birds , i think most feds in scot have had race points right along the south coast , christchirch , wareham , bournmouth, dorchester etc etc etc, in my old club , all blamed the racepoints, never the birds or managements ,,one instance 3 fanciers leading in ob ave reaching last inland race approx 365 miles ,,,,each year the other two never were near it or never timed , these birds were mostly yearlings trained in end of march , cold east winds, went to every training stint, every race, they could get,=,yearlings done,,, my yearlings had 2 tosses sent to the 4th race in brilliant sunshine in may, their 6th race [no tossing] result 11 birds out of 18 in fed prize list, winning a record amount of prize and pool money,=,,fresh birds
  21. lanarkshire is about the biggest fed in scot , allmost direct north of annan , with the drag of birds, a touch of east in the wind, i could easily see the winner there,,
  22. yes indeed [conclusions drawn] ,,,, money talks ok,,,,,,,it says goodbye ;D ;D for me anyway ;D ;D ;D
  23. ben ,, used to know a lot of fanciers down your way,, especialy the truro area, ,i bred the sire of the nantes nat winner [winning car ;D] mr mrs philip and sonia wilson , if you see them, tell them i said youve to get a pair of yb,s ;D ;D im sure theyll be ok ;D ;D
  24. well done young ben,, congratulations ;D keep up the good work
  25. i would agree with you ,p,scout i have definately noticed that the stress factor is a high risk one for so called yb sickness, i aso have noticed shadows posts over the last few years [dont know him] he kept small amounts of birds with plenty room, have noticed quite obviosly that fanciers with fewer ybs and more room i,e less stress are less likely to contract this, but still find your point interesting, on why all the ybs in the loft dont get it ,if some do , but in these cases i have seen it is usualy the weaker or younger birds contract this, my main concern is why most folk look for a cure rather than look as to why they do get this, my own opinion is ,overcrowding, wrong conditions of lofts, =stress, i would say is the biggest factor
