in the past have won the ob average in club flying furthest west [runner up to fed gold cup twice there] moved house won ob ave flying furthest east , won ob ave flying one of the furthest south, and won the ob ave flying one of the furthest n,e, all points of the compass in a club at that time with 35 to 38 members sending one week 710 birds ,,,,from the east to the west of the club would be about 3 miles, roughly the same as the distance from the furthest north to the furthest south, so it can be done ,,,,,on many occasions :) the fanciers i raced against know this ,and dam good fanciers too

no not in the fridge but its amazing how long they will last as long as theve never started incubating ,,and turned regular , ive done this for about a fortnight, and theve been ok , but never tried longer

build a make shift aviary , get them down on eggs ,,take the aviary away, dont let them in old place,, theyll be back ok

off course the wind can decide the result,,,,,,sometimes,,,,,,,,thereare areas that will have a favoutite chance,yes, but the fevourites dont allways win,, a really top class pigeon in top form will come direct and on its own,,,in front,,,, past results will prove that .

should get the burn on stuff at any builders merchant,, it probably is the best,,, but as far as hammering and sawing and working on lofts , doesnt seem to bother them that much , ive had trouble the last week with the winds , with the felt blowing loose but stuck it down temporary with mastic,, its dry at the mo anyway ;D

plenty protein feed , ie, maples , even beans a few peanuts , youll find when feeding ybs they wont eat much maize[,if any] they know what they want, or need

my own opinion on abuse of medicines if the doctor doesnt advice it, then dont take it other wise your abusing it,, i think that goes for the pigeons too, but the doctor[ or vet] should be an expert in this field,, unfortunately some are not and are more interested in money

going back to the first post ,," the frog" it is strange what fanciers will think ,,,on a panel years ago ,or rather after the quiz,, a fancier came up to me quite gennuinly said [half jugged ;D] i know your secret jimmy , but i wont tell anyone,, i asked what on earth it was , and touching his nose on the side with one finger, he whispered ,",you put water in your minerals "when i asked who on earth told you that,, then it came out , one of my clubmates told him,,,,i had simply left the black minerals out while cleaning the loft, and it rained during the night,,, that clubmate gennuinly thought that was the secret ;D ;D ;D true

youve did it sue :) its one of the most annoying times with pigeons, especialy yearlings, they can be very stubborn,, but they must all be well enough anyway if theyve laid like that ,, then [eventually ] theres peace in the loft

in my opinion open hole pigeons are better and easier to get fit for really difficult long races,, 600 miles plus, and they do get more street wise

birds bred in dec are 6 month old b4 their trained , birds born in march are 10 weeks old when starting training ,,,,,,,,,when training ,,,the younger the better.

very old breed , but very good distance birds westcotts, barkers, hansenes, grooters etc but would think they would be wattered down by this time, would be interesting to see if anyone has line bred them and if so how their performing, but these were all hard working breeds
