  1. best fancy birdto get yb,s in is" speckled" ;D if youve seen her getting birds in , their like lightning ;D true ;D i suppose a fantail would be best [but maybe fanciers wouldnt want to buy any white birds off you ;D]
  2. must admit valiance ,, this is true
  3. plenty foxes around now, allmost tame to a cerain extent [around here anyway] seen one walking over sainsburies car park during the day, very dangerous near a loft [as above post says ] better trap it [or them] in a cage trap ,, take them as far as poss away,in the country :X

  8. in the good weather the f.d in the morning makes the w hood cocks rest better all day frid ;D all in club used to wonder what this f,d was ,,had them all guessing ;D Friday Dip in hot water ;D,,certainly did mine no harm ;D [remember ,pigeons temperature about 6 deg higher than ours,,,,,,maybe not on race days though ;D]

  10. this is me showing an olfd friend the wonders of pigeon basics, len hasnt been to well of late , but still as keen as ever ,, hes quite amazed at the site, and hopefully well get another member
  11. i have advocated that for years ,,, sounds odd, but sometimes or most times [especialy in show racers ] its unhealthy birds that win [or i should say its unhealthy birds that are shown, the birds are too fat , it cant be good for them , but that is one of the show standards, so maybe time to alter judging standards , to suit leaner birds ,,,only my opinion
  12. too much of this ,,,short sprint,, sprint,,,,,,,sprint to middle ,,,,,middle to long , ,,,long to extreme long , basicly i would say anything up to 350 miles sprint, over that termed as the longer races
  13. theres a very small chance you could have paratyphoid [salmonellosis[ carriers in the loft ,, maybe better get them tested [im certainly not saying it is, but this can effect the unborn and recently born chick] really just to rule this out
  14. " when the wind is in the east its neither good to man nor beast"

  21. i would never have w hood cocks hungry , this does stop them flying , at this time of year i would only ask for 20 mins to a half an hour am and pm but when the better weather arrives[ may ];D ;D ;D hopefully i would excpect them to do a full hour am and pm ,preferably under their own steam ,, far too early just now , only drain the cocks in the snow ;D

any one missing a pure white cock pigeon with a white ring , this bird [had no rubber on] the bird was tired ,,had a drink , picked a little grub from a dish i had on the ground ,,, i chased it b4 it had full feed ,,,,left the lothian area about 6pm ,,,so whoever it belonged to,,,hope you got it back [it was never in the loft]
  23. may i just say ,after this attack the hen went missing also, i had feared this had been also killed by hawk , but with address ring on it was reported 20 miles away [funnily enough by an old friend i hadnt seen in years ] so it just goes to prove the fright the other birds take [to put it mildly] may i take this oppertunity in thanking p,b members for there pm,s ,help and advice
  24. if you kept racing pigeons , raced for a few years, you would soon know improbable or impossible vel. so playing devils advocate on something you know nothing about is fairly plain silly ,,,,,its experience in racing pigeons you need , then you wouldnt be acting like this ,sorry , but this is true. " the region would , i beleive, have to have deemed it an impossible velocity,,,,,,as if there was a chance that the bird had flown this legitimatly........the appeal would have been dismissed,,,,,,,,,,,,,,whoever put in the appeal whether it be willcox , some other member , or club or fed "
  25. condition,,,,,,,i,e super condition , is one of the greatest things to see in a pigeon , this super condition in a pigeon is such a joy to behold,, where the bird is handling like cork , never still even changing shade ,colour slightly , eye sparkling like a diamond ,blinking so quick you cant even notice it , feet so hot it cant keep still , the bird outside flying non stop , doing its own thing away from the batch, dissapearing one way, returning the opp. way against the wind , then repeating this , the pigeon actualy telling you its jumping for joy wearing its new mascara to attain this condition is excellent management and,,,,,,,,,patience [when a good pigeon is in this condition its very hard to stop ] but remember ,,its not in this condition all the time, so when it is,,make the best of it
