i my opinion , ittl knock ten bells out of them especially in scot or n ireland its very slightly warmer [if thats the right word ;D ]futher south , but rain f c down south , far better fiddling away with a few birds you can stop for the season after 3 races ,,,,then start the" a" team , yearlings will shine in the middle of may if fresh distance birds better going to their first race then

its been said b4, but this really would make a great true story, and, showing pigeon fanciers at there best

brilliant news david hes gonna be one happy bird ,, not stupid questions at all,, just make sure hut is off the ground ,, , i would get a sputnick for middle space , you could put two small hinged frosted glass widows in the side bits [open in summer closed in winter] doweling or netting on gaps where windows are , cut a space at the bottom front put a vent in [cheap plastic one fine ] there may be a gap at the back top , if not a little vent ,,,,,,,inside a couple of boxes 2ft and 2 ft at the side [the 4ft side and perches at the back , box perches are better [birds easier to catch] but" v" perches would do ,,sounds a lot but its not really , itll be a wee palace for them good luck

i think i would do the opposite ib [no offence intended just my opinion, i would keep the naturals in [if theve been well trained , and try and have an" edge" on them for the sat , especialy in the short races ,, i would do the opposite with the w, hood cocks ,, have them out early and have them ready for a bath , then get them in early , i found this way they rested better on a friday this way, i used to try and feed at the hopefull time of lib on a friday ,, i def think your right in feeding them at 6pm then basketing them , they would just bring it back up again,, better earlier ,,,good luck ib

this last fewdays have been absolutlely bitter here in the lothians [absolutely freezing tonight] same f,c for the week end , this fairly breezy east wind would cut through you brrrrr "when the wind is in the east its neither good to man nor beast"

i think youll allways get advantages and disadvantages in pigeon racing , but as i have said b4 ,, looking at a national result you can soon see the best bird , and really [no offence to winners] its not allways the winner , [remember kennedy winning the gold cup rennes race with "culzean victory" in ayrshire ]race long enough and hard enough , youll get a day that suits you, sometime ] good luck anyway

two seperate deliveries this week , both seperate days,, birds picked up about 3 pm,,,,, here at between 9 and 10 am , so credit where credits due

i beleive that by feeding pellets , we are in fact making the gizzard of the pigeon redundant [the gizzard is where the grain is masticated by the grit etc] so maybe a a small amount off pellets would be ok mixed with grain,,,,,,but they are grain eaters

Clock Checking Rules?
jimmy white replied to Geraint Parry's topic in Pigeon Politics, Rules & Regulations
yes agreed , thats what the sites for, cause now im asking ;D ;D ;D it was the snfc rule that the yb natonal only ," clocks must be checked the day of timing in", yet in the old bird nationals , you could control your clock at race closing time , [even if youve timed in ] then time in again [if poss ] in the morning , what is the ruling of the now inland ob nationals? [s n f c ] -
read this article again , and they say w hood is new ;D when i first raced w hood in 1984 [natural b4 that ] i think i was the only w hood flier in the fed,, they said it couldnt be done in scotland,[,laughed at me ;D],,,,due to the hills :-/ :-/ well a year or two after that i won 14 races out of a total of 17 races ,, with a small team in the one season,,,,,,,,,,,,,there are more on w hood now in scotland ;D, but very interesting article i,b .......as far as your question at the end , ib, , it was willie mcalpine who was loft manager and was left most of the birds, as far as i know , good reading though

what does the forum think about ybs hatching early may [saves a lot of grub and cleaning for a start ;D] but ive found these ybs reared in better weather [warmer,,,hopefully ;D]are very well grown , trained at 9 weeks old then kept going , ive found these birds far better feathered[ moult wise] and only on there 3d 4th flight by the last race ,,,i was 4th region scottish nat with a pigeon that went to the first race still half squeecking [you know ;D the in between bit between the coo and the squeeck ;D,, but trained well

have raced two lots b4 one darkness and one natural at the same time ,darkness ones hammered the naturals ,,,,was doubtfull at first , but as yearlings and older birds , made no difference , but darkness ones need special treatment, after racing ,i.e rest baths , and a few seeds [buttermilk helps] they must have a perfect second moult, completed. i have found , putting them on natural light on the longest day , suffices them for the yb nat. and a full moult
