union councilour in hosp was asked to do the toilet in the potty beside the bed ["im not doing it in there" he replied ,,,"do you realize who i am,,im a union councilour , and been so for 30 years ,,and you expect me,, to do it in that potty" off course the nurse gave him no alternitive ,, he had to do it there , in the potty ,,, then all of a sudden the councilour laughed as the nurse was taking the potty away,, she asked what he was laughing at and he replied "ive been a councilour for 30 years ,,,,,and thats the first motion ive ever had carried " ;D ;D ;D

" love that is hoarded" love that is hoarded, moulds at length, until we know some day, the only thing we ever had is what we give away. and kindess that is never used but hidden all allone, will slowly harden till it is as hard as any stone. it is the things we allways hold that we lose, day by day; the only things we ever keep are what we give away,

i can well understand the gen manager david mills,s letter and to a certain degree i can agree ,, but in saying that, "they cannot police these activities," i can understand but im quite sure they are there to" resolve disputes" which to me , this is a case of ?
-
the pigeon can fly away ,, but the cash cant ,, it wouldnt cost old yellow a penny if he went to the cit, advice ,, they would or could provide a lawyer ...acting for the cit advice via, old yellow,, if need be :-/

a very poor response by" the reddings" carefully selecting a "grey area" in their own rules and "aims for fanciers" they are obviously trying to sweep this under the carpet , and "not wanting to be involved" my advice would be go to the citizens advice [i worked there ] and have them to contact the trading standards ,, also have them contact" the reddings" showing the" citizens advice group" your rpra rule book ,,,,im sure they would sort this matter out,, as no one has to put up with a fraudster ,,,,,i find your actions most admirable old yellow, and wish you well

all sounds like a great show,, and a great outing ,, good luck to all who visit
-
mav and i often do not agree , but this post here is spot on , i say good luck to that young lad and at least he is trying , and forward thinking ,, for the good of pigeon racing in general,,, i think we could do with more of those sort of fanciers ,,, and less of the others ,,good luck to young alannolan, and may the sport in general recruit a lot more alannolans for and in the future
-
i should think so,,,,,,,,, alannolan has posted a completely un-political thread ,, meaning well , not interested on politics only for an idea in racing pigeons ,, nothing else,, but why oh why does a member bring unjust alligations on what alannolan is interested or not .

Sparrowhawk attacks my lovely doos..newbie
jimmy white replied to Jillus's topic in Introductions & Member Messages
yes your on the right forum , and very sorry to here of your misfortune with a sparrow hawk attack,,unfortunately these attacks are becoming more regular to all pigeon enthusiasts , i suppose the best bet is to keep them in and buld an aviary,,for at least a little excercise,, many fanciers have come up with many ideas,, the sparrow hawks natural enemy is the eagle owl,, you can buy imitation ones at any garden centre, i have found this works only to a very uncertain limit,, even changing it about,, but the hawk still seems to get to know this,, we have a friend on the forum "tammy" who had a disc of the eagle owl sound , this maybe worth a try ,, even putting old discs on a line , with the silver shining may help , some time ago fanciers even tried transfers of eagle owl " eyes" on the birds wings , many things have been tried ,off course its illegal to shoot these birds,, the racing pigeon fanciers also have the problem of the perigrine ,[these catch them in the air] as all these types of birds have now multiplied so much in the last few years ,, there is a thread on" racing pigeons " postings ,,on" sticky"about raptors , it doesnt make for good veiwing but never the less the truth ,, i can only advise you use your own methods ! [off course legal ones] but im afraid this is one big problem with pigeon fanciers to-day ,, wish you luck and also a warning,,this hawk will be back once it has killed once ?? -
yes ib,, but maybe one or two hawks less ,,,,that breed one or two less etc etc ,, it does kill hawks ,, same as trounce" canker" kills hawks ,, dead hawks dont breed ;D
-
yes i remember this ,, i thought it was great ,, but as usual others moaned [outside the boundary etc ]

years ago we used to have "the east of scot continental club"[more birds went to that than any national now why not have "a west of scotland continental club" and have two different racedays , two seperate races,,,, but plus the nationals :-/,,,, not enough members,, not enough money ,, not enough,,,,,,,, trying ;D
-
i had one pigeon like this many years ago,, it annoyed me so much,, had droppings tested ,, swabs taken , allmost everything i could try,,, but this bird was winning,,,, i remember talking to armand scheers [not his brother garden ;D ;D] he told me in broken english,, if only bird like this,,and all tests been done , some odd birds like this,, something like irritable bowel syndrome , bird born like this,, droppings factory faulty [true] if bird looking well , racing well nothing you can do,,, but watch off spring,,,,this bird won well over £1000 in national race ,,,,,,this bird was allways the same at all times ,,its youngsters were ok droppings wise , but never bred one near as good as him :-/
-
well done cemetry,, really a kind gesture ,, hope it brings a good price

allthough im not a lover of barley,, only as a weight controller,,,,,,when needed,,,, but would not disagree with above post [if birds are not getting out] the oils and sedochol would be advantages along with this amount of barley,, but sometimes i see fanciers feeding barley as soon as racing finishes ,, whilst the moult is in full flow,, this i would be def be against as in my opinion,, this is when they need the best of feeding ,, so that theve got good jaikets [jacket or overcoats for the following year
