  1. no i dont think they come out of Dumfries never have, but if your ever going to get a good one in national racing in the west or central belt they must come through gretna up the a74 and hit Abington services , tam the west will never win a national coming out off edinburgh, unless its a smash, tam remember winners come on the straightest line, there,s no drag at the front, and all the best this weekend, thomas my bhoy

peter even bad doo men can get there y/birds for the early races, it must be something your doing wrong, and remember feds need pigeons at this time of the year, thank god for mob flyers, that send big teams, mind peter you had 50 y/birds and only one away, feds need pigeons not excuses, think you should spend more time at the dookit and less time on the computer that would help you all the best david

hi peter seen this on pigeon chat, Creating a long distance champion by Besant and Son » Wed Aug 10, 2016 11:00 pm Educating youngsters - creating a champion? Its the time of year when everyone wants to educate their youngsters but arent sure how to go about it. Lots of fanciers saying what shall I do? Do we train to 50 miles /do we train to 15 miles or do we just not bother at all. It depends what you are setting out to do - for me young bird racing is the easiest. It really is you get out what you put in - probably 60% fancier 40% pigeon. For many years when we wanted to win absolutely everything the theory was that all youngsters should be tossed to 50 miles to the coast as many times as possible - ideally singles / doubles - and it worked - we won the young bird national and whenever we used that system we performed very well in the Open result - the birds were machines - if thats what you want to do pick a training spot and repeat repeat repeat. The last few years with time in mind we laid off it - we didnt see the value in ridiculous amounts of roadwork, the astronomical losses due to BOP attacks and it didnt really correlate to birds that performed as old birds - in fact our best long distance pigeons never raced as youngbirds and barely trained (may be 15 miles a couple of times) - what they did do was exercise - they roamed for hours on end north south east west of their own accord until November - we could never have taught them that and they were latebreds!!! From a team of around 15 latebreds those pigeons won 1st National, 1st International Agen 499 miles 2015, 4th and 7th National Agen 2016 and 12th National Tarbes 563 miles 2016. Make your own mind up but dont be fooled that running down the road will create the champion - a champion is born you just need to hold on to him and don't throw it away!! There are many roads - but if you havent got the right birds neither will work the better the birds the less work Besant and Son BRONZE MEDAL Posts: 152 Joined: Sun Jan 25, 2009 2:57 pm

    Amazing

just seen this on pigeon chat
  17. the problem is some boys win y/ bird races, and upto 250ml with old birds and think racing easy, go to the nationals and get hammered, and blame everything bar them selfs, 500ml plus racing hard, everybody gets plenty knocks, but you when you get one, you think its all easy again
  18. i agree with you on most of it, apart from the yearlings bit, but if you get a yearling right they will win ok at 500ml plus, but getting them right is the hard bit, not just yearlings any age
  19. just different names but the same races, gold cup, and the longest race,
  20. walter i like all snfc races and try to win at them all, but for me its all about rennes and nantes
  21. when we came into doo,s in the early 70s, everybody wanted a good rennes or nantes doo, the stories about them that still keeps me going yet, thats what missing now with pigeons,
  22. plenty short nationals, hope they leave rennes and nantes alone, that what the snfc is all about
  23. no your trying to be wide
  24. lewis your being a *ar-e * now
