Thanks for this Rose,would love to have the birds to fly that distance. Tell you a story. Bought a nice two year old cock at Blackpool many moons ago, payed a lot of money for him. Bird came from Germany from a guy named Mannfred Krubb. Paired it up and raced form borders about 60 miles won a second card in club, and 18 Fed. Sent it two the race following week 60 miles again,never seen it again. Mr Krubb wrote to me to let me know the bird arrived on the Tuesday night after a 10am Liberation at the Scottish borders. Now that bird was sold as a sprinter ,thats why i bought it.Makes you think Told him to keep it,as the bird decided and worked two hard to get home. Now thats the birds we all need Happy days

Phil, Take it that verification entails letitng the bird out, to make sure it is at home. If our organisations make competitors aware that verificatin takes place, then this should help some to resist temptaion. The Cash rewards and Prestaige assosiated with these big races would seem to be just to much for some. We should, and must make it clear that not just the winner but a random number of pigeons even down the result will be verified. Yeah Rab Smith

The four pigeon i started with are doing well out flying. I have let them out the same time every night and of they go for about an hour. Took them about 500 yards from loft for some basket training last night,out they came and ,off in the same direction as usual,returned in an hour.Did not feed on their return last night. Done the same to night and off they went once again returned in an hour. Though at first i had done the wrong thing,maybe getting food somewhere,a lot of Hawkers around. However thery where still hungary apone there return. Rest of birds just out today,seem fine still waiting on three to return,though they are around just on wrong roofs. Think my problems may be hawker related Any thoughts Rab Smith

This is indeed a sorry state of affairs. whatever the findings our governing bodies must be seen to act one way or another. As stated by many on this thread,to many fanciers have tried to long, to win a national. So many birds lost in persuit of winning. This must, and surley will be investigated, in a right and proper manor All members past and present deserve nothing less. Stories and hearsay is, or can be fueled by weak leadership, and lack of information. Members are wondering and waiting please note action is required.
