Looking at it, i think that is the way to go, and not locking them up. I would have to do this at a weekend as i,m not there during the week. I may start it this weekend and see how i go

Tell me about it brian, the theory that confinement is the problem looks to be favourite at the moment along with the weather. But i,ll persevere As for why do i keep them locked in their boxes, well, i know of quite a few fanciers who do this. It for one guarantees the breeding, and if the pigeons are calm and settled, it stops fighting ect. Still learning

Interesting, as i,ve heard a couple of them do just that. As i say i,m learning, so all these theories are helping me look at my set up.

Thank you Brian, i,m sure all will work out for the best. Not looking at a big team this year, not overly concerned , as long as it doesnt happen in round 2, or 3 or 4 only joking they will get a second go at it, if that fails then its time for sos ;D

everyone seems to go in Dec nowadays , Totally against nature and i think the severe cold has bit a lot of people in the ars My preferred time for breeding is febuary, however due to my circumstances of the past couple of years i,m racing against time, to try and get a decent team together. Once that is in place, things should settle down for me. The weather has been brutal this year, and hope is a one of, just a wee bit demoralising when you put all your plans in place for it to go pear shaped so easily and more importantly, out of your control. :-/

Out of 12 pairs, i had 7 hatch, and 4 empty, the other 1 was filled but not incubated properly. I wouldnt have thought anything could scare them as they cant see out. And i always say, that if one can do it then theres no reason why the others cant. Just seems strange, and frustrating :-/

That was another thing a was thinking, that the tobacco stalk nest arent deep enough to keep them at the right temperture. I,m going to get straw for when they go down again, and see if there is any difference. Its all about learning i suppose,

All my birds are locked in their own boxes, so dont have the chance or risk of fighting. The idea of weaklings is interesting. It is freezing here at the moment with drinkers constantly freezing, just hope the rest are going to be ok, as if not its going to be a struggle to get the team i want, i,m sure it will be :-/

I had 6 pairs hatch at the weekend, but came home tonight to find 3 kicked out of the nest, and dead. The others are ok, for now, even the one that had its nest mate kicked out. Why does this happen? i,m pointing towards it being very cold at the moment, and that the adults are sitting too tight to protect their young. Apart from that, i,m at a loss as to what is the reason. Thanks in advance for your replies, alex. :-/

World Wide Results
alex wight replied to Richardferret's topic in Website News, Views & Computer Related Info
That would be a very good idea, and let everyone compare results world wide, go for it -
Didnt realise that there was another one oot, theres me thinking i was on the ball doing the last one thinking it was the last one, but not being the last one, talk about taking the p*ss, this is beyond a bloody joke, someone needs bloody shot. Yes listen to unikon users then deal with it ONCE A SEASON NOT AS MANY TIMES AS YOU SEE FIT. Unikon are not trying to tell me that they need to keep updating AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN, get it sorted NOW!!!!!!!!!! rant over. :-/

I,ve done all our club members clocks (x13 champ), with no obvious changes so far or any problems with the download, fingers crossed. Is this likely to be the last one for this year?

Thank christ because for what i,ve heard there's not a lot down there. In saying that, H&S paid from the neck up, the mind boggles, canny even spell ;D ;D ;D Get back on topic

Keep them in the loft for a few days to settle down, and every time you feed them rattle the tin, keep rattling it whilst they eat. This lets them relate tin to food. Dont feed before letting out, ever. Feed them once a day for starters till you get into the routine you have planned for. I feed at night which i feel is best for this time of the year as it keeps them more settled and comfortable during the night. Hope this helps leave the food down for 4 minutes, then remove. They will soon learn to get straight in for the food.

To the tip or should i say refuse and recycle centre ;D ;D empty the trailer, back home to fill it back up, empty it again.
