  1. dougie the pro excellent
  2. gee austin a slap the next time yi see him, the auld goat. I would like to try, but only if the support of the members were there, otherwise it would be a waste o time.
  3. get back tae the rigs ya plant pot
  4. Archie as is said before, i didnt know who stirred the shiite, hence not being able to name names. However the culprit came good after 1 year of keeping quiet. So there you have your answer. The fees are £20 plus £66 are they not? = £86? How is it when you try and do things for the better of others you always get knocked again and again and again. It buggers belief. If you didnt mean to abuse me, when you told me to "shut up and say no more if your not going to name names" then i,m sorry i,ve taken it the wrong way
  5. depending on the size of the youngster, i prefer 6/7 days. Prefer to be tight to go on (not too tight), so that they dont fall off. I always check morning and night that no rings have come off.
  6. for your information austin, i never put my name forward because i,m the middle of a struggle to keep my job, which in turn keeps my family and house ect. Secondly i never walked out in the huff i started back at my work at 3pm. People like you need to get their facts right before they open their mouth and slag others off. As for getting beat in a vote, i never voted so in turn never got beat sorry to pis on your box o fire works mate, but thats nothin new eh oh, and isnt this a site for discussion???????????? seems not?
  7. its just about organisation, and working for each other. But it all starts with the agm. They are not run as they should be, so if it can be shown that things can be done properly, the members will feel valued and will feel obliged to help. My wheels have been running overtime, and i feel that things can be saved, if there is a clean slate to start again, and that is what we are going to have next year. So season 2012 has already started for me, however its not all about me, its up to the membership and the views they carry???????? Lets see what can be done for the better of the fed. By the way this is no way undermining anything that has been done by the officials who have been in the seat up till now, far from it.
  8. u never know dougie
  9. it appears you have picked me up wrong. I said the running costs for the federation should be split equally through the membership. This £20 is nowhere near enough to cover the loses we are making. Bearing in mind we lost £6100 last year. Stopping the prize money, having fees increased, having no young bird sale, having no late bred sale and having no dance, all equals that the fed is on course to lose £4500+ this year. Not looking good.
  10. i realise i have a vote, but when you have the type of proposals being put forward, i wasnt going to use it. Why would i want to take up golf??????????????????
  11. went to our fed meeting on sunday and was disappointed/embarrassed by the outcome. Inside 10 minutes of the meeting, i personnaly took abuse from another member relating as to why i never carried out the pro job. Reasons were explained, but because i never named names (because i never knew for certain), i was to told to shut up and say no more, how pised was i?. Then to sum it up in a nut shell, our fees go up another £20 making it £86, all prize money was stopped for the fed, and of we go for another year. Proposals were being taken off the floor, which i didnt think was correct, and it, yet again turned into a shambles. At this rate, i predict Fife Federation will cease to exist within 5 years, unless some radical changes are made. Just add to our woes, our president of 6 years and secretary of 2 years are standing down next year. I,m not holding out much hope, of offers coming in to replace them, i may be surprised, but dont think so. How is this situation going to let you enjoy your pigeons, its a hard pill to swallow. Just hope things do improve.
  12. Well done dougie lad. Its all about education as archie said. I think we need to remain calm not abuse supporters of bops, and again try and pass over some true information regarding the dangers that are posing to ALL birds, not just pigeons. If you were to say to the public that in the future soon, when you look out your window in the morning you will not see a single robin, sparrow, blackbird ect ect, it would attract some interest. When you open your window you wouldnt hear a single song being sung, again this is the area the public relate to. Pictures of a robin red breast on your Christmas cards is the only place you will see them. One step up from that is the way they are caught and eaten ie alive and struggling. Another area to venture is the medals received by pigeons during the war, and without the bravery of these birds, the war could have and probably would have ended differently. I wouldnt aim solely on pigeons as the public see them as a nuisance, our pigeons are in the same bracket as other garden birds. Just some ideas dougie that may help you out, i put in up here so that others could add to it for you as oppose to an e-mail.. Cheers lawd ecyboy. This is the type of area we need to aim can you imagine IF we had the same support and interest in other ares of the country, we may just be moving in the right direction. This along with the shu petition, resignation of the big boy at rspb, we have a good opportunity to start to help our sport. At the moment i,m very saddened at the lack of support for this. All we need is e-mail addresses of your local papers, and we can start to send monthly letters to them to bring the situation into the public eye. SO COME EVERYONE PLEASE DO YOUR EASY BIT FOR THE SPORT. yours alex.
  13. 10 pair paired. 6 went down, 4 not down yet. 3 clear eggs out of 12, due to start hatching 9th onwards. Having a helluva better start to my breeding this year than last. Going to pair up the late breds in march so all going well should have a healthier number for this season. Good luck to all.
  14. Here in Lochgelly, we are covered in the white stuff yet again. About an inch, its -1 and the west wind is bloody freezing. Great day to take off work and get things done
  15. its another area we can head, keep them coming lads
  16. robbie, i,m movin hoos to the brough, your fed has a brilliant way of doing things at a minimum cost therefore the fancy have a brilliant hobby. Its a 2 way road, if the members are happy then theres harmony throughout. If not, then theres a rebellion. some of the things we are paying are ludicrous, and the cost is even worse, they need to be addressed NOW.
  17. All it needs archie, is for the right person to pursue these matters, this is a lot serious than anyone in our fed realises. Some people need to take the blinkers off and actually see where the problems are. To me its easy to ask around to see whats available, then discuss how it can work, then go for it. Our membership (most) dont have a clue whats going on, and therefore trust the top table to lead them the correct way. In my opinion thats not happening, we are being led done a darkened road that is going to end very soon. Only if they would listen to some ideas and then look into it, may be a start.
  18. bloody frustrating archie, a think a wee shake up may be needed? we dont need to be in a bad position just some ground work needs to be carried out. Do you no fancy doing president again????? i,m sure you could get us going where we need to be going. We have never recovered after the split i feel.
  19. No5 no i wasnt probably the same reason we all have is thats its too far, and i was working. I,m trying to recoup the money i lost when i moved to the cooncil, i,m a pauper now, no like yersel money bags lol
  20. robbie its a fantastic idea, but for some reason or another our fed doesnt look into these things, and i,m sure if we did we could certainly come up with something surely. i,m only trying to help us but keep getting shot down in flames. nice to hear from you too mucker. the way your fed operates is amazing and we realy need to look closely to see if we could do the same.
  21. i,m the same archie but we never had the balance sheet at the councillors meeting (which i thought we should have), to discuss it. I,m more concerned about the rate of money we are losing? i,m an optimist but i dont see a bright future for our fed, or is it just me?. what a world we now live in eh.
  22. archie 1. you say we are not a golf club i never said we were, it was an example of how other sports clubs manage to survive.(we are not dogs or horses either) 2. I just cant get my head around putting birdage up, the big fliers to keep the smaller fliers doesnt sound fair to me. If you fly 10 birds per race that member would be giving the fed in the region of £36 per season on top of the fees £68 = £104. so if thats the case going back to equal payments, all birds after 10 have to pay 20p per bird may be an idea. 3. everyone is entitled to their views and i for one fully accept. 4.the meeting is on the saturday due the thornton hall being booked for the sunday. if the fed was important to its members arrangements would be made to get there, however over the years i,ve oinly ever seen 30% of membership turn up. 5. why dont fifers go to the snfc meeting? cheers archie nice view points mucker, hope your presentation goes well, i,m sure it will. Why do you have it every year i,m on call lol. regards alex.
  23. yer right mucker missed that one. that was done of the top o ma heed, just to give an idea. The facts and figures are here, but after i put a lot of effort into my last proposal to be screwed up and thrown out, i,ve not put the same effort in, cheers for being awake though lol.
  24. Another fed has 147 we have 150. Their fees are £5 for a junior, £10 for an oap, and £15 for others, ours is £68. their birdage is 25p up to 300 miles, then 45p up to 340 miles, then 50p thereafter, ours is 27p(convoying to pick up point) 32p if pick up at club hut. they have 20 races we have 12. they have a 7.5 tonne lorry carrying in the region of 2600 birds. We have a trailer that can carry 4500, but only attracts 2600 max. Their secretary gets paid 20% less what we pay ours. As you see there seems to be huge differences between feds. I hope these lads dont mind me comparing costs, but it just goes to show what can be done if the right people , do the right thing.
