  1. Maybe not Ypres 456mls to me, maybe a wee bit further but as for the fed doo beating the Nat doo, he would be a mug not to enter the nat for that race just in case.Fed doos through here have beaten the section winners in the nat several times but they lose credibilty because the owner was daft enough not to enter them in nat.
  2. Why is it that we have found the most successful and fairest races have been from the east, Ypres or Liege,or thereabouts, where everyone has a slight chance and the returns have been generally good, we still fly from different race points??? The fact of the matter is, everyone s looking for an advantage, in despite of the race outcome.Shame on these people. I say, 3 x Ypres races and a long distance race for the die hards ( including myself ). This would allow you to send your yearlings as well with a wee bit confidence and the 2nd Ypres is the Gold cup race and thats the only race feds can duplicate.Think of the 5,500 birds at the Gold cup
  3. Well done to the Elliots, fantastic performance, 1st, 15th,22nd Open, dream stuff
  4. I know what ye mean Bobby but all the info should be collated by the controllers. The people on here cant contact the controllers during a race so maybe there should be an information line set up , one that people in the know can leave any information on the weather in there part of the country, this would help the controllers for races in the future. I do understand what you mean about folk having a go at the committee when in fact they arent ever at an AGM or even at the *expletive removed* races for that matter, it pi sses me off too, but I dont think there should be a divide between the committee and the members ( them and us )kind of thing.Everyone is entitled to an opinion if it is a valid point to help the SNFC in the future. As members, committee or not, we are all equal and should strive to get the best for the best birds in the land.
  5. Bobby, you know me, ive been on the SNFC committee 3 times and worked my balls off.I would never point the finger at anyone who is working for the committee, what I am saying is, if the race controllers arent getting enough info, then we must address that in the future.Too many champion distance racers lost in seemingly perfect flying days, or were they???? The committee have to make a decision on all aspects of national racing because, ill tell ye, folk are pi ssed off with all the time, effort, expense and heartache these disasters are causing.Im not saying the decision the race controllers make are incompetent because they are doing alot of work and have birds in the convoy also.I think we need as much info on weather suitable for pigeon racing as possible and if that takes a few grand out the bank to get that info, then so be it.No stone should be left unturned to cater for the best pigeons in Scotland, this includes transportation as well.
  6. expletive remove, if this is the case then our race controllers have alot of explaining to do.This is the worst race in SNFC history in my opinion because there are no pigeons working in after the close of race, therefore they are not ANYWHERE NEAR SCOTLAND.
  7. Never before have I known there to be so many champion distance pigeons lost. Total devastation and it will take many years to replace these birds. We ve had 3 Gold cup disasters in my 38 years of keeping pigeons and 2 of these were from MESSAC
  8. a good idea blaz that I have thought about for many years
  9. SPOT ON
  10. I think the national has alot of changes to make.I believe if the 2 inland nationals and the yb nat stay in the programme then they shouldnt be part of the averages. There could be a separate average for them. The SNFC was founded for distance racing and since these 3 races have came in with a view to get fanciers to join the SNFC and ultimately fly in the main event of the year, THE GOLD CUP RACE. This has not happened and I believe these inland races are detrimental( not financially ) to the SNFC credibility.Bring back combines and amalgamations for races at the 300 mile mark.Another alternative is to have a yearling national instead of the 2 inland races.Food for thought, what do you think ?
  11. Dont think it has anything to do with east/ west Stephen, its to do with getting the good doos back. Someone said that the last Messac was good, bollocks, there were only 180 in race time and about 2,500 at least away. That equates to almost the same as this race, a bloody disaster. Now we have had 2 disasters out of 2 from Messac, surely we must wake up and stop this madness. Some people say, Messac is ok, its the same as Rennes etc etc BUT its not, even though they are close.I would train my birds at Abington but wouldnt train at Moffat, just down the road a few miles from Abington.Reason, Moffat is a bad lib point and maybe Messac is also. TOO MANY FOLK WANT THINGS TO SUIT THEIR LOFT LOCATION but I think a lot of research has to be made into race points to suit THE WHOLE OF SCOTLAND and not certain areas. The SNFC committee should look into every aspect of pigeon racing with a view to making our nationals better, this may include the K index
  12. What he means is 95% of feds in Scotland are flying down the east side all year and then we fly from the west in the biggest race of the year.Bloody madness imo
  13. very well done m8
  14. You kidding me, it was a *expletive removed* disaster.I was 150th open at 6.50pm the second night. This race was dominated by the Solway, hence the bus load at AGM to go back there.
  15. George, the point is getting the doos home. MESSAC WAS ALWAYS GOING TO BE SUICIDE WHEN 95% OF SCOTLAND FLYING THEIR BIRDS ALL YEAR DOWN THE EAST. The fairest races would be further east, maybe Liege or even further east (Denmark ) and dont *expletive removed* kid yersel that the west has any advantage in any race unless we flew from Ireland.
  16. Gutted for ye Angela, pass my regards on to the auld yin
  17. *expletive removed* gutted for you and yer da John, very very unlucky but she is there to go again
  18. well done my wee mate Eddie Harrison timing his lovely red pied cock at 6pm. Eddie isnt long in the pigeons and to score in such a difficult race is a fantastic achievment for him.Well done bud
  19. Well done Derek and Johnny, great bird . Also, congrats to Sandy watson.

Brilliant flying by Peter Virtue. Just shows ye when you are a good dooman with good doos in the prime location, miracles do happen.
  25. Thinking it will be very close between Davy Elliot vel.approx 1193ypm and John McNeil 1192 approx to win this. Am I wrong with my calculations?
