yes but i think it was wrong as several memebrs went to the toilet or for a smoke at this point. a 5 minute break should have been declared. the business which was carried out during this period included the subscription and birdage chsrges which was rushed through in my view. after the comments during the discussion on the accounts it surprised me that there was not a proposal of an increase. even a £1 increase in fees would have brought in an extra £1000 plus

various good points made but as usual it will probably turn into a rammy at the agm with every one trying to have a say and getting pretty much nowhere. my views on the various points are... we must try to make savings but how is a different matter. i would think the secs salary could be reduced but if you make the job part time will there be any takers? delboy says its just a few meetings and 6 or 7 races. incoming fees and applications have to be dealt with the membership[ packs have to go out diplomas printed balance sheet and agm agendas sent out transport etc arranged and probably several other things which i wont have thought of. then you have 6 races in approx 7 weeks and expect results out within 3 days. you therefore need an unemployed or retired person as someone with another job would not cope with the work involved. looking at the balance sheet...is the franking machine value for money? committee meeting expenses seem high to me! no way should the dinner lose £2000!! accountancy fees seem high but if you chop and change every year it could be counter productive as a firm takes time to get to know your business. engraving etc also seems high but there are a lot of trophies. the main problem is lack of entries. as every federation knows it costs the same to send an empty transporter as a full one! the channel races are losing money so the only option is share convoying or put the birdage up. personally i would not be in favour of a liberation with another organisation at alencon (or rennes) as it takes away the 500 mile plus element i.e the birds get a drag up the road. enough just now more later maybe

over £5000 for race marking and clock committee expenses. i`ve marked birds and read clocks but have never asked for nor would i expect payment. somebodys raking it in!!!

why scrap a classic long distance race for what could be a sprint from Ypres or Lille given the right conditions. i think we need to look at the dates of the races. why does tours have to be the week after Alencon. why not have falaise 2 weeks after alencon followed by tours the following week. Eastbourne birds would have a 3 week break then go to falaise instead of the present 5 weeks and you may get some alencon birds going back to tours. just food for thought

yes but you can buy as meny as you like and the cable is 10 foot long so you can have 1pad on landing bord and 1 in garden and one on the end of a twenty foot pole so you can chase after the bird as it flies round the loft. get a life

AGM should be interesting. I would expect the vote for committee members to take an age because going by the comments on here there will be loads of guys willing to be nominated. Much better than the shambles last year when just about everyone in the hall was asked and hardly anyone was willing to accept. I wont hold my breath!

i think for it to work the snfc would have to be independent of any union. i cant see how a club of the stature of the snfc could operate under the rules of two separate unions without there being a conflict in the rules somewhere along the line. but if the will is there i`m sure it can be done.

correct i dont live in aberdeen. i was informed by a friend the weather was crap. around a dozen birds landed on a roof across the road from me. one came in late in the day. the wing stamp contained the word europa. i phoned the mobile number and got no answer. can you tell me how many of these birds eventually got home?
