  1. Wires crossed somewhere I think. Midland fly west route
  2. Can we please just get on with racing and stop the endless bickering. It is the SHU centenary and we should be celebrating instead of certain individuals trying to cause trouble all the time
  3. Have you any idea why they have moved? Did midlothian birds not clear well or has weather closed in again
  4. Ref post 16....Tammy you got no sense (Alf said it no me) lol
  5. I`m not scaremongering. I`m stating a fact. Please tell me which part of my post is untrue.
  6. Where did I complain about Lanarkshire? I was stating a fact. Dundee & Angus are next to each other, Lanarkshire is in a different direction and have a huge convoy. Did the Angus controller know you were going up at 10.45?
  7. Dundee lib at 10.15. Angus lib at 10.30. Lanarkshire lib at 10.45. Many yearlings missing in Angus.
  8. Seems to be a lot of birds missing in Angus & Dundee. Mind you hardly surprising when Lanarkshire lib 15 minutes after Angus with East in the wind. Lack of thought somewhere along the line

    SHU +ETS RINGS

I may be wrong but I think ets rings can be transfered from one fancier to another. When you are assigning the rings the loft number comes up and if the ring is already registered to another loft you are asked if you want to change the loft number. Another point Vic, you still need metal rings as well at the moment although I believe a combined registration and ets ring is being developed but may not be available for a year or two. The unions would have to approve this of course.
  10. cant see how that will work. I need 4 sensors for old birds because of loft layout. has rpra not field tested the systems like the shu did before approving them. they seem to be rushing into it. i can see problems ahead as too many folk dont know how the systems operate. they should have waited until 2008 to give them time to sort out rules or guidelines.
  11. The vast majority of the scottish fanciers are in harmony in that they are not really interested in the politics and just want to race their doos. There is a small minority on this forum (and we all know who they are) who have an axe to grind and who continually try to stir up discontent. Never mind be positive the racing starts in six weeks!!!!
  12. Fifer if you had been a delegate at yesterdays meeting would you have abstained in the vote for president. I believe nobody was aware before the meeting who would be nominated as president so how could delegates go with a mandate
  13. If anyone is a laughing stock it is the handful of idiots on here led by Frank (non SHU member) who criticise and find fault with anything and everything to do with the SHU. They wouldnt recognise a good president if they saw one. John Barlow is the best man by far for the job and has done a first class job under difficult circumstances. I doubt if he will hang around for much longer but I feel it is only right that he should lead the SHU during its centenary year. No federation in their right mind would vote off the sitting SHU president as their delegate.
  14. The hen should rear the young birds on her own but I would make sure she had extra food - leave a pot of maple peas or tic beans in the nestbox. The other pairs should also manage to rear 3 ybs but again give plenty food.
  15. By commitee I assume you mean SHU council. They ARE elected by the SHU members ( by their federations as delegates) The whole problem is down to the apathy of the members. How many volunteers do you get to be a delegate? And its mainly fed officials who are appointed delegates because of the same reason they are fed officials in the first place i.e no one else wants the job or the responsibility. Its the same all over - I saw a report on a RPRA region AGM when something like eleven club delegates turned up from over 200 clubs.
  16. I dont have the wrong end of any stick Frank. I am trying to get across to you that to fly with the NFC you must be a RPRA member. So what is the difference from having to be a SHU member to join the SNFC. By the way I may well join the NFC if there is a section for Scotland.
  17. Frank you know fine what the answer is. Go and have a look at the NFC website. You have to quote your RPRA membership number and the club you pay your RPRA fees through. So to fly in the NFC you must be a RPRA member. How can it be a true national club if you have to join a specific union.
  18. Can I race with the NFC solely by being a member of the SNRPC (SHU affiliated) i.e without joining the RPRA?
  19. I would think software will eventually be developed for this. Its all about progress and this takes time to achieve.
  20. So Scotland is not a whole nation now is it???
  21. Anyone with the slightest bit of common sense can see that a pad fitted below a sputnik which is fixed to the loft must be termed part of the loft. The bird has to drop into the sputnik before it is timed therefore it is in the loft. The ignorance of some people is breathtaking. I cant believe folk think you can run around he garden with a sensor on a pole to time a bird flying around the loft. Why is it legal to time birds from a stall trap before they enter the loft???
  22. Dont see what all the fuss is about. No other fed has had all this carry on. Is Lanarkshire a special case. Fact - the SNFC members decided to have a race from Maidstone on 23rd June and offered to convoy feds and allow duplication. Fact - some feds have decided to take up the SNFC offer and some feds have decided otherwise. Fact - Lanarkshire members can still enter the SNFC race by paying £7 to join for one race Stop bickering and get on with racing doos
  23. Its the same old story blaming position when you get beaten. If the majority of the leading batch in a national were west birds the west would win the national. Why does it happen so often that birds are timed in the south and east sections long before there is anything in the west.
  24. I would think the SNFC will hire federation transporters. Which ones will depend on the expected birdage, which transporters are available on the dates needed and if they are a good enough standard. I am sure the Lanarkshire would be considered if it was offered. Have they got their new one yet???
