Scottish National Racing Pigeon Club Reims Gold Medal race 28 & 29th June 2008. Probable1st Open, 1ST Section F Stuart Mullan Port Glasgow. Stuarts wife Karen, timed the 4 year old blue pied hen at 9.29 on Sunday morning. Stuart was not expecting pigeons for another couple of hours and had gone to train some other pigeons for races next week. The hen is bred down from pigeons purchased from David Black of Drommore and J & I Alston of Ravenstruther. Previously the hen had flown from Lessay gaining 109th open with the SNRPC. Last year the hen arrived a day late after a hard race from Reims. This year the hen had two races one from Wakefield and one from Wanstead Flats timing from the latter at 10.59. in the SNRPC race. She was sitting ten days on eggs on day of shipping. The hen has already bred a son which topped the Glasgow fed from Newbury last year. Stuart has been a keen national flyer from many years and works tirelessly for club fed and National. As can be seen from this report although the name of the lofts are attributed to Stuart his wife obviously plays a major role in their success. Given the wind situation this is an outstanding performance by the Mullan family and their pigeons. A wee bit reward for all the effort they unselfishly put in at all levels. A superb performance by an out and out pigeon family. Congratulations from all of us at the SNRPC and keep up the good work Karen and Stuart..

ian surely the way forward is basic technology ie a telephone and lets get all these race controllers talking to one another. there are some very good experienced race controllers out there and some inexperienced. the best controllers never get a mention because if we get a good race nobody mentions the lib if we get a bad race we all shout why did he let them go. now having said all that yesterday was a no brainer all the forecasts on all the various sites showed the same, low cloud, mist and rain with poor visibility on the east coast and in the hills. if you have this info and still gamble with a liberation i am afraid there is only one outcome. time to forget about petty feuds and politics because it is the birds welfare that should be paramount. nobody likes to hear about a fed or fancier getting hammered because we all know how that feels and it is not nice. the way forward has to communication between officals of neighbouring organisations.

Glasgow Federation liberating at 09.00am into a light north east wind at wetherby.

my thoughts and prayers are with his family at this very difficult time. RIP tommy.

mick how were you to know what he would turn out like. you were only helping out a new starter from the fair city. i myself gave him some pairs at blackpool and took 10 rings to breed him some youngsters but logged on one night to see a post about how badly he had been treated blah blah blah and then he was having a go at jim bamling and jimmy white because thing were not going how he wanted so his rings went in the bin. i am always willing to help a new starter because of the genorisity which was shown to me when i restarted and i think the fanciers in general would always help someone starting out. i think mixxy sums it up perfectly in his post, some of the best and most generous fanciers live right on his doorstep so maybe we should have dug a little deeper.

SPOT ON MIKE......... they are like mostly blues and blue w/f and the better ones are not very big at all but they are strong and very fast birds. most of the fanciers who have been racing them over here have had repeat orders in so they must be happy with them.
