  1. hi westy make sure you are not overfeeding them as this will take the urge to fly away from them. only feed after they have flown and trapped well. this way after they excercise they wont sit out on the rooftops.
  2. anything i can do to help just let me know.
  3. Glasgow Fed at Bishop Auckland on sat 20th. weather forecasts seem to vary for sat but hopefully we will all get a race and good luck to everyone.
  4. hi meaybar, spoke with our conveyor this evening and he said that the weather at otterburn this morning was miserable and that the possibility of returning to kelso was discussed. luckily our race controller was again spot on with his call and we had a great race. i understand there were showers along the east coast today some heavy. dont know if that is why you were held over. best of luck with your race when you get it.
  5. JUST WONDERING HOW RETURNS WORKED OUT THIS WEEKEND. PERSONALLY SENT 34 AND HAD 32 HOME INSIDE 30 MINS. HOW DID YOUR RACE GO AND WHAT WERE THE CLUBS RETURNS LIKE.
  6. GLASGOW FED liberated from otterburn at 1pm into light north north west wind. good luck to all members racing today.
  7. have any feds gone up yet today.
  8. sounds like he needs the longer races but also sounds like he was not properly motivated. what nest condition did you send him in, sitting 10 days, small youngster, big youngster, widowhood etc. me i would not give him a year off i would float his first two eggs next year and let him rear a nest of his own, them get him into shape and go to your longest event with him at his best. he sounds like a great pigeon but needs a little extra work. well done for looking after him as many a fancier would have binned him as a young bird.
  9. HOW MANY BIRDS COMPETING THIS YEAR YORKIE.
  10. hi richard any chance of a photo of the birds.
  11. there were a number of feds at otterburn on saturday and from the information i have heard some had great racing and others were not so lucky. our fed glaggow liberated at 11am(91 miles to me) and had a great race with returns at 90% plus personally waiting on 1 from 35 sent. renfrewshire went just after us and had a much slower race with returns slow to start with but got better as the afternoon went on. forth and clyde went after us also and they had a sticky race also. midland fed were at lockerbie again with mid lothian i think and again got it hard with poor returns. me i hate lockerbie as a lib site. it is hard to explain why there are so many losses and poor races as the weather was ok well all be it a north west wind which with natural birds does not help them as they will struggle if they have to face it. i dont think we are all breeding rubbish but we are breeding far to many doos. you hear it in the clubs all the time, "yes you need 50 youngsters to start with if you want a yearling team" again the debate of quantity versus quality. clashing could be an issue but really should not be as the technology we have at our disposal is unlimited. a quick glance at the forum on a fri night or sat morn would tell any conveyor or race controller which organisation is where. i dont think we are far enough down yet in distance to be crossing any english feds so could be the k-factor. prehaps mealybar could explain more to us on that one.
