hi mitch i have tried siegel books already and even phoned them but it is not available. Billy i have contacted nigel cowood but he has not got one either. thanks to you both for trying to help out i will let you know if i manage to obtain a copy.
-
thanks keano and shadow for your replies but it is part III that i am really after. i have tried every online bookstore and pigeon section even phoned seigels in LA after i found a copy on their pigeon section but it is out of print and not available. If nobody on the forum has a copy or knows where i can get one i might try and place an advert in the homing world and see how it goes.

davy dont worry you were not the only one to have a nightmare from otterburn. we were brought back from wetherby and liberated at 15.10pm i had 10 cocks away and only had 6 of them home on the night and I mean night as 2 of them dropped in near darkness, the 4 that were out had all flown otterburn at least 4 times luckily they all worked their way home today but it was almost back to the drawing board ......again.

well done your birds look to be in great condition and it is lovely to see birds having so much space to breed and live in, again well done.

Here in glasgow we have sunshine through broken high cloud air temp of 14 degrees. We are at wetherby is there anyone from the forum in that area.

Glasgow Federation are at Wetherby but looking at the forecast it looks very grim indeed.

yellow hen i am afraid so long as they pay their fees and dont break any rules there is nothing you can do. In most clubs there are poeple who talk a good club and people who make a good club. the hard part is striking a balance between the two. what would these members do if nobody appeared to mark their birds, as in any club each member should mark each others birds to ensure the work load is spread out, but not always. lets hope they realise there is more to being a club member than turning up.

We raced from Catterick and had a good liberation with birds clearing to the North West quickly with weather at the home end seemingly perfect. Yet the gaps in returns were massive with a lot of fanciers reporting birds arriving well apart. Myself I am waiting on 2 from 15 sent, both yearlings and not latebreeds. really was a strange day but yet it seemed to be perfect. true what they say east wind spell trouble.

I would be looking at the droppings as they can tell you a lot also looking for a few down feathers to be stuck to the droppings. I was once told that if you were racing widowhood cocks look for the cock has left some grains in his pot but looks to have the most energy around the loft as this is a sign that he is in form. Also i look for my widowers to get down very low in their nest bowl`s and call loudly for the hen. but as jimmy said you must be very observent during the week and watch for them to scream out of the loft and dissapear for 45mins and then come home and scream down low over the loft on return and away again. these are some of the indications that i like to see.

I must have missed something here as i thought this thread was about Items for sale and wanted, and there is a sub heading called "birds for sale". Surely the clue is in the title........................birds for sale. As keano said it is all relative, you can only buy the birds that suit your budget. A bird for sale at £20 would look expensive depending on what you can afford to spend, my only concern would be that the conditions the webmaster has set out are observed. We all use the forum for different reasons and i don`t think it`s fair to critisise a member who openly states he wants to sell his birds. Would you phone the BHW and complain about the birds on sale and the prices asked for them in the paper, no i did not think so.
