    Bob Hughes Of Pelsall

Bob eats, sleeps and breathes pigeons, he raced a tidy team of race birds too up until 3 years ago when he got the urge to show the showracers, he is my flying partner with the race birds and is a great bloke to be around, I enjoy visiting the shows with him and the show people are lovely blokes who all seem to get on really well. :)
  9. do u exercise them around loft m8
  10. I have tried racing hens this year boxed in up and over boxes, we only have 8 I am not letting them fly around the loft just training them 17 mile daily, only had 1 race which was an open race over 50 lofts sent over 600 birds and we were 3rd so obviously happy with them, they have reared with 8 cocks in normal way but at the moment we are leaving the 8 cocks out the loft and are letting them play with a fantail cock when returning from training for around 5 minutes the fantail is clipped so they cant call him to any boxes, as long as this works we will continue and when they go stale their original 8 cocks will be given back to them :)
  11. One son won 8 x 1sts and also came with Breakaway to win another 8 but Break was a goodtrapper and that gave him the edge. Another son and a g/son won 10 & 12 x 1st respectively.
  12. Harold Steptoe and son :) ;)
  13. If it was only the odd bird we lost around the loft m8 I think people will accept it, however lads are being butchered daily by these predators, I think if you were being hammered daily m8 you wouldn't be so understanding, my 6 year old autistic boy comes and messes aound the loft with me while his mom has an hard earned rest in the house, I brought a dozen roland janseens (grizzles and pieds) for him last year to get a bit of interest, everytime he come up the loft one had been taken on exercise, very difficult to explain to a 6 year old autistic boy that his birds have been taken by these predators, I accept they are about but there numbers are to high :(

    o my god

gutted for you both :( :( one thing for sure it will be back, get a trap set as soon as u can Klaus, it makes your blood boil, if your dog got into a neighbours garden and killed their pet rabbit (as mine did) then all hell would have broken loose with visits from the police about your dog, most cat owners I know are irresponsible and leave their animals to look for food themselves. :(
  15. A good friend of mine swears by this, especially if there are no pieds in the pedigree.
  16. Thats my usual method m8 and have reared excellent ybs that way hens will feed each others ybs. :) :)
  17. At the momet about 8 days Phil, I will give them another week before trying what I wrote.
  18. I have in past but am going to try something different this year, I was a little late pairing and by now my youngsters are usually weaned and my cocks exercising however I only just rung the ybs, right this is what im gonna do when my young are 14 days old I am gonna remove the hens along the corridor into the empty yb loft, I will leave the 2 young with the cocks to feed and exercise the cocks 2 times a day whilst they are out (I would have fed the hens previous) I will let hens along the corridor into the widow section to feed the youngsters.....this way the ybs will be fed well and also it will not put to much pressure on cocks....they will also bond better to the loft.........thats the plan anyway, I just hope it works :)
  19. I was thinking the same m8.
